The pain she feels on her legs was so intense that it is grabbing her off the remaining strength she has. She tried to grab her bag on the back seat but she could barely touch the handle. Her cellphone has been ringing for the past four hours as she is pinned between her car seat and the steering wheel. Her body and hands are shaking on an attempt to unbuckle her seatbelt but she can't even muster enough strength to press the release button.
The guy who's helping her open her car door an hour ago has not returned yet as he left her to get more help.
Breathing becomes difficult, since every breath she took gives her so much pain, and wondered how much longer she should suffer. She thought that she may have punctured her lungs from the impact. It is so easy to let go and surrender. But at the back of her head, something is pushing her to fight for her life. The dawn is breaking and her surroundings starts to lighten up slowly. She's been stuck there for more than four hours. She felt quite lightheaded and dizzy like her surroundings seems going on circles. The excruciating pain on her leg seems to fade and becomes numb.
Is this it? She thought, is she going to die? None of them knew she was in a car accident, maybe if January knew she will decide not to leave anymore. But she could not even make any phone call as she has put her cellphone on her bag that is sitting on the backseat. It was ringing a while ago, maybe it is January, maybe she decided to call her before she leaves. Or maybe it's just Patrick or Heidi or Christian trying to call her. She was in such a hurry that she forgot to take her cellphone out of her bag before she drove off. She may have not noticeď that she's speeding up too much, and it was too late when she reach the curve and hìt a huge tree head on.
She learned through Patrick that January already know all about her secret the moment she got off from work. Heidi, Christian and Patrick are bombarding her with missed calls and text messages. She decided to go home but didn't find January in their beach house. She then drove back and took off immediately when she learned that all of her stuff is gone and immediately called her boss and there she learned that she was leaving for Japan, and that she already accepted the offer she got from the company she's working for a week ago. She know about her plan to go to Japan and is willing to support her decision. But this was so sudden, she didn't even bother to tell her.
She decided to try to catch her to the airport but she first checked the flight schedule of the airlines who's bound for Japan that day. And she has five more hours before the next departure. She tried to call January's number but the number is no longer reachable. She must have changed sim cards, she thought. So if she decided to catch up with January, it must be now.
The road from their beach house is most of the time deserted since only a few lives in the area. Maybe it is just luck that a guy who's driving towards the beach was able to pass by. He tried to break open every car door but they are all jammed. He already called for help which he told her that help is on the way. He said he will leave for a while to get more help.
She could not move and lift her arm anymore which is the only thing she could do a while ago. She really didn't know why she's still fighting for her life.
Then suddenly the same guy knocked on the window of the passenger sit to catch her attention. He is with a few more guys who's trying to break the glass on the back. She tried to form the word thank you in her mouth. They were finally able to get in and trying to figure out on how to extract her without causing any further dmage to her.
The guy who stayed with her more encouraged her to stay awake that she will be alright.
But in the background she could hear them talk about how it is impossible for her to survive. She knows that she will eventually pass out as her body starts to slowly shut down on her.
She tried to imagine January in her best suit and on her way to the final gate towards the aircraft that will bring her to Japan. Maybe if she lives they would one day talk again, if she is given a chance.
She hears the sound of the siren coming from the ambulance from a distant before she lost her consciousness.
