The two of you made your way down the stairs to the front of the block of flats. A nice, black Audi waiting for the both of you and he hopped in without any hesitation. You soon followed suit after shoving your bags into the packed trunk. It was surprisingly spacious in the back of the car. You wish you could've had an excuse to be closer to him. You heard fabric shift and before you knew it his fingers were entwined with yours, a hot flush across your face and calmly hands indicated to him that you were nervous. Squeezing his large hands was all you could think to do in that moment, seventeen miles to the airport with silence? I don't think so. But holding his hand seemed like just the right gesture to ease the silence, however, it still seemed like too much. Linking your brain with the driver you told him to turn the radio on. All was calm, the car seats were plush and soft and his grip was gentle on you. Dispute your efforts to always stay out of Corey's brain sometimes you'd slip up and fragments of his thoughts would flood into your consciousness. Words like "spear", "snake", "brother" and "castle". He was always strange but his thoughts were even stranger. He suddenly gripped tighter and you realised the cab had stopped. You were at the airport.
"God, Imm nervous."
"Corey, we'll be ok. -ok?"
He gave a slight nod of his head as he paid for the cab ride, both of you hopping out soon after. You'd almost forgotten about how crowded airports could be. Screaming kids, agitated mothers, tipsy fathers and a massive line to weigh luggage. You could tell Corey was nervous. His hands were shaking and he was starting to sweat, giving you a slight squeeze.
"Corey-"
"I'm fine, don't worry about it can we just- get this out of the way?" It sounded like he spat his words through clenched teeth. You took his advice and did everything as fast as you could, for his sake.
It was time to board the plane. Thank god you both had seats together. You were scared either of you would've had an attack if you were on separate sides of the plane. Those next ten hours to New York seemed fast, too fast. For the majority of the flight you were hand in hand. His fingers on your thigh treading just close enough to not be sexual but sweet, reassuring. Your hands were focused on something far more important, playing with his hair and lulling him to sleep. You felt that, if he were asleep for most of the journey, it would be easier on his mental health but, in your efforts to get him tired, you struggled to keep your eyes open. It was bliss. The cool air circulating through the seats made the warmth he radiated a peaceful sanctuary. Your muscles completely relaxed and you being melting into him. Time had no control in this state. Nothing worried you, nothing hurt you, nothing was uncomfortable. This was what heaven felt like.

"(Y/N), we land in about 30 minutes."
"(Y/N)?"
Eyelids fluttering open, first thing you saw: his beautiful olive eyes. They still surprised you even now. A thought from him entered your mind.
"Perfect"
You couldn't help but grin.
"What are you smiling about?"
"Nothing it's fine"
That's when you noticed it. He was considerably taller. Maybe it was the fact that you were at such a high altitude for so long. No that can't have been it. Damn it. You'll ask him later.
"We should be landing soon." His voice was croaky and tired. God you loved him. But you'll never tell him that. He gave your hand a slight brush with his thumb. Oh. You'd been holding each other the whole flight. Not that it bothered you in the slightest you were just- surprised.
The plane landed, jostling all the passengers a bit. Shitty pilot. Within about an hour and a half you were checking into the hotel.
"Uh, yeah the room should be under (L/N)." You groaned out to the air-headed receptionist. She must've been about 18, on her phone for the majority of the time she was talking to you.
"Yeah, so one double bed-"
"Oh no we wanted two sing-"
"Yeah that's fine." Corey cut you off. Oh. Ok. You weren't complaining.
"So you've both paid for two weeks? That'll be 600 dollars."
"Sure thing." You paid for the room but Corey stopped you. Handing over the 600 himself.
"So are you two a couple?" She asked.
"Well-"
"I mean-"
"Yeah?"
"Yeah?"
You both said at the same time. It felt easier to just agree. All you wanted to do right now was to go to the room and sleep. Giving her the answer she wanted seemed easier than disagreeing with her. Like you said, you were an incessant people-pleaser.
Up to the room I guess.
