Several miles north of Grayling, Michigan, lies the small town of Kalkaska; the sandy driveway and a gate open up to a new world under the crown of trees, and into the wilderness, where I just might lose myself in the natural wonders. I travel down this sandy path a mile where I come into a clearing of a wide open field with a cabin in the back that shows complete elegance and beauty, especially under the orange and pink sky. At night, I can walk down to the creek, and watch the dark night sky reflect off the calm, cool water, but if I don't want to go down there, I can light a fire and watch the flames dance, giving off heat and a soft orange glow, with the sparks proceeding up into the sky, almost becoming one of the stars. As I close my eyes, the whispers of the wind, and the talk of the creatures wandering about can take me into a moment of pure bliss and magic, giving me a feeling of heaven. Laying down on the soft grass below me, I sit and look at the crown of branches over the driveway, watching the fireflies jump from branch to branch, lighting up the air like the stars and the full moon dragging me into sleep; with the noises of the Earth, and the sweet aromas of nature, finally pulling me under and sending me into the clouds.
