The steady beeping of an alarm clock went on relentlessly until I finally threw my pillow at it.
"Ah, sweet silence." Gary mumbled from the other side of the room. I heard Andrew's faint chuckle and Frankie's insistent snoring.
"Nothing besides an explosion can wake Frankie up before seven o'clock." Andrew said, sitting up and stretching. I yawned and slowly made my way down from my bunk.
"I think I can wake him up." I said grimly, walking towards the bathroom.
I grabbed some toothpaste. When I came back, Gary had already climbed down from his bunk and Andrew was just sitting on his bed.
"Gary, let me see your smelly sock from last night." I said still keeping a straight face. Gary hesitantly handed me his sock and then stepped back and shared a confused look with Andrew.
I saw Andrew just shrug out of the corner of my eye, but then I turned my full attention on to my victim.
I squirted some of the toothpaste onto Frankie's hand and then began waving the stinking sock over his nose.
It didn't take long for the stench to waft back and assault my nose as well. The smell was terrible.
"Do you walk through the sewer on your way home after class?" I gasped, putting one hand over my nose while I continued to swing the sock in the other.
I heard the guys laughing quietly behind me. Finally, after letting out a small snort, Frankie's hand swung up to swat the sock away and when he did that he smeared his nose and the side of his face with toothpaste.
His eyes shot open and he sat up rubbing at his face with his clean hand and staring confused at the hand covered in toothpaste.
"What the hell...?" He looked up at me and saw the toothpaste tube in one hand and Gary's stinky sock in the other.
"Good morning, Frankie. Glad you finally decided to wake up and join the living." I said and tossed Gary's sock at him. Frankie recoiled from the sock and turned a glare on me.
"Watch out Mitchell, when you mess with my beauty sleep I get angry." His voice was menacing but his eyes were laughing, so I wasn't too concerned.
Correction, I wasn't concerned until a few minutes later when he attacked me with a water gun. I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth when all of a sudden I felt a splash of wetness all down my back.
I spun around and saw Frankie laughing, "I told you to watch out, didn't I?"
I shot him a quick glare and then joined in laughing. "Alright, alright. Truce?" I asked holding out my hand in surrender.
He looked at my hand for a minute and then carefully reached out to take it. Right before his hand made contact with mine he shot water full in my face before taking my hand.
"Truce!" He agreed, still laughing at his last score.
I quickly changed into my uniform for the day and headed out with Frankie to our first class of the day. (Luckily, since we're both freshmen, we'd found that we had quite a few classes together.)
* * *
I had my first two classes with Frankie. Then I had Study Hall with Andrew. Fourth period I didn't have with any of my roommates, but I met a couple of guys who seemed pretty nice.
