Chapter 7: Epliouge

"Melody look! Here is where my secret grotto was." Ariel swam in and held the rock for her daughter.

"Wow Mom, this is amazing!" Melody breathed.

"When I was 16, I had Scuttle the seagull to tell me the names of yhe human objects I collected. I didnt know at the time but he was always wrong. He called forks dinglehoppers and told me humans brush their hair with it." Ariel giggled.

"Mom, I know all about you and Dads story. You were a mute for three whole days?!" Melody asked.

Ariel sighed, "seems hard to believe huh?"

"Very." Melody nodded.

"We almost didnt get together." Ariel mused.

"Why?!"

"Ursula of course, the slimy octopus. She used my voice to trap your father, by turning human, her name was Vanessa. Eric fell in love with her and was going to marry her at sunset. The last day of my contract." Ariel explained.

"But Dad didnt marry her, he married you." Melody cut in.

"Right. You see, Scuttle was flying by and told us he saw Vanessa's true refection as the cunning sea witch." Ariel explained

"Whoa. What did you do?"

"I swam out to the boat, of course. Sebastian had rallied many sea creatures while Scuttle united seagulls to help stall the wedding." Ariel answered.

"So you made it onto the boat, and then what?" Melody asked.

"I got my voice back and was about to kiss your father. But before our lips had touched, I became a mermaid." Ariel smiled grimly.

"No! You were so close!" Melody groaned.

"Now I was at the mercy of the sea witch. Ursula dragged me to the sea floor and my father saved me. Ursula was in control of the ocean." Ariel went on.

"And?!"

"Eric and I united to battle the sea witch together and we won. When all was over, my father turned me human." Ariel grinned.

"Whoa! That is some story." Melody said bug eyed.

"Yes, it is. Now we had better head back home."

"Already Mom?!" Melody groaned.

"Yes. And we need to discuss some rules." Ariel replied taking her daughters hand.

"What rules?"

"The ban to go into the sea is no more. But if you are to go into the sea, I must know and if you are gone too long, I'll come and find you. Dont think you can hide in here from me, I grew up in these waters and know them as well as my two fins." Ariel warned

"Yes Mom." Melody replied as the two swam back to Atlantica.

"Ariel!" A series of voices called.

The duo turned to find six mermaids swimming quickly to meet them.

"Melody, looks like its time to meet your aunts. You already met Attina." Ariel smiled.

"You look just like your mother!" Ariels sisters gushed. 

Ariel smiled watching her sisters meet her daughter. When the introductions were over, "we really need to go. Eric will be worried."

The six sisters groaned, "come back and visit soon!" They called

"You know we will." Ariel grinned and took Melodys hand. Together, the mother abd daughter pair swam up to the surface.

"So, what did you think?" Ariel asked

"It was better than I ever dreamed it could be." Melody grinned.

"I promise, we will be visiting a lot more. You are free to explore the ocean, but only for 2 hours at a time, understand?" Ariel asked.

"Yes Mom, I can live with that."

"Good. Now lets go home." Ariel and Melody returned to the castle where Eric greeted them with a huge hug.

Life for the little mermaid only became better, and true to her word, Ariel let Melody explore the sea to her hearts content. And sometimes, Ariel would join Melody in the undersea adventures. 

Melody fin-ally got what she wanted for her 13th birthday, a life filled with adventure. She couldnt wait to see what else awaited her.
