What we do for love
There are many toxic situations that can destroy a person, is it worth that person? Would you forgive everything for love? , what happens if she is not entirely happy? There's something wrong. She loves him, and he does too, they...
In Michael's mind: Hey, my name is Michael, I do not know which is precisely my last name, I didn't meet my parents, but, well maybe I could say my last name is Kent, Michael Kent, I lived in an orphanage until I was 6 when Mr & Mrs. Clinton adopted me, but then when I was 8, I went back to the orphanage because they went through a financial downturn, so the government took me away from them, so then, when I was 10, Mr. & Mrs. Robbinson adopted me, but you know what? I always had bad luck in every family I was, this time Mr. & Mrs. Kent got divorced, and Mr. Charles Kent didn't want to take care of me, but Mrs. Linda Kent did, but then she got cancer, and it killed her too fast, that at the age of 13, I had to go back to the orphanage again, but I kept the last name.
After that, at least I could decide what orphanage I would go to. I always chose the same one, even though I didn't know the other kids, because they were already gone, and I didn't know the new ones around, at least the nuns and teachers already knew me.
When I was 15, this girl named Karla, Karla Anderson, came to the orphanage, her dad was from The United States, and her mom was British such as me, she told me she was British too. Later, I discovered she had both nationalities; she was born in The United States, and her parents took her to England because her dad got a better job here, and let me say SHE WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL MY EYES HAD EVER SEEN!

That picture is from her last days, and I could not even be with her, there she was 23, I loved her, and you know what, I still do, and I will never stop loving her. I feel alone sometimes, but I will never find someone like her. No, no, I better not think about it, instead of start crying. When she got to the orphanage, she was 13; she looked timid and nervous, so I went to where she was and started talking with her. She told me what had happened with her parents; she started crying, her parents had a car accident when they were going to take her brother to his soccer practice, he died too. At that moment, I really didn't know what to do, so I just hugged her until we both fell asleep, but then one of the nuns woke us up and took us to our rooms.
Next day we spent all day together; I mean, none of us had more friends there inside, so we had time for talking about a lot of things; the next days were kind of the same. I told her how my story was; we talked about what we liked and what we didn't; it didn't take that much until I fell in love with her. Still, I hadn't ever had a girlfriend, so I was shy of telling her what I was feeling, so until she got 15, I told her that I loved her, and I asked her if she wanted to be my girlfriend, and she said yes, I think that was the second happiest day of my life, the first one was when I married her.
When I was almost 18, and she was 16, a couple from the United States who had been donors of the orphanage went there. They wanted to adopt someone, and all the specifications they did to the main nun were according to Karla's characteristics, so the nun presented them. Mr. & Mrs. Bennett adopted Karla and took her to the United States, even when she had asked them not to because she wanted to be with me. But they told her that because of her jobs, they couldn't, but that when I got 18, I could go with her and they would receive me in their house, at least all those months we could be still in touch and continued with our relationship.
When I got 18, Mr & Mrs. Bennet bought me an airplane ticket, and I could travel to the United States, and there we lived for a long time, we got married there when I was 22, and she was 20, one year later her parents died.
One year after that, we traveled to Guatemala and then to El Salvador. Now I think maybe it was a little bit crazy because none of us could speak Spanish fluently. But anyway, we took the risk. Some months later, we got a debt with a man, who we thought was a good man. Later we weren't able to pay every month. He started asking us to work for him and threatening us that if we didn't pay, he would kill us, we didn't have enough money to go back to the United States.
Still, at least we could escape to Guatemala, there one day we received a message threatening us again, so then we went to the police and told them what was happening to us. But they could not help us, and the threatenings were still coming to us, so in the end, without any other option, we had to start working for him, so we had to go back to El Salvador. One day he told us to join the gang, and we had to accept for the good of our baby. Yes, my wife was pregnant. She was about to give birth to our beautiful daughter two months later. Her name would be Caroline Kent Bennet, but she was assassinated in a fight against another gang, and I couldn't protect her as she deserved.
Again Michael, don't think sad things, don't start crying. It is tough for me, that day I lost all the family I had ever had, my reason to live, my reason for being a good person, and to do what is socially good and right for me. It doesn't have any sense anymore, because anyways, life still punishes you in the worse ways it can, I have lost too many people through all my life, and I had to get over it all. Still, my wife and my daughter were too much, and I just can't anymore.
I do not care anymore; I will do whatever I want to survive, even if that affects others' lives. The world doesn't care about me, so why should I care about the rest of the world? It doesn't have sense.
It doesn't mean that I would commit suicide or something like that actually; maybe if I tell anyone all this, I'm thinking would be totally disappointed in me, but this is what I think. Now all I have to do is to be strong. I mean, I can only think about what my daughter would feel if her father commits SUICIDE? or what would Karla think about it? I just won't do something like that, that's not one of my options. But it doesn't mean that I still care about being a good person. If life is rude and unfair to me, I will also be with the rest of the world.
My wife's death was two years ago, and now I am the gang leader. I killed almost all the men who made us be in this situation, the messengers, the ex-leader, and a lot of people, now I am the boss, I am the leader, and everyone does what I want, now we try not to kill anymore or at least not that much. Still, we are well-positioned in the drugs business, so it's a little bit difficult not to sometimes. Besides being a strong and big gang, we prefer to keep a low profile and do not call much attention.
Oh! Derek, well, this is hm.... Maybe, someone I can call my best friend, I met him at the university, yeah... I studied some months of medicine when I was in the United States. My best friend's name is Derek, Derek Becker; he is 25; he is my wife's age... And well... He is From Germany. After that, he visited me here sometimes. After a time, he graduated and came here and asked me if I could help him get a place to work here, and now at days, he's a great surgeon here and has gotten a really good life.
