Sophia's POV:

My friends have a waiting business tonight at the new Event centre and I decided to tag along.

Joseph and Tara were my college friends from day one and have remained so till this day. We love each other so much and can do anything for one another.

Joseph is from a rich family but wants to have his own money and won't depend on his family.

Tara is from an average family. Her dad owns a ranch at Carolina and her brothers, Luke and Dylan, works there with him. In case you don't know, her mom died while giving birth to her.

I have a younger sister who is very close to me. My parents live in New Jersey. After college, my friends and I decided to come to New York to look for job.

I have sent applications to everywhere I know but only one called me for an interview which is on Monday. As today is Friday, I decided to go with my friends to the Event centre.

"Sophia, just try to mingle with them. They are all rich men and women. Who knows one of them may give you a job." Tara told me as she changed her clothes to the waiters uniform given to her.

"I have heard you. You have said it twenty times already you don't need to repeat it again. I will mingle just as you said and find myself a good catch." I said winking my eyes at her.

"Dream on my dear. As if I don't know you. Even if million of them comes to you, you won't even blink an eye. I wonder what men did to you."

"They don't have to do anything to me before I despise them. Not after what Simon and Tyler did to you in school. I don't have time for guys yet. Maybe in the next five years I will have a change of mind but for now, it's capital NO."

She stretched her arms and bow her head, "as your lordship pleases. Please zip up my cloth, I really need to go before they fire me. And I also need to look for Joseph. Only God knows where he could be."

Laughing, "I won't be surprised if he's shoving his tongue down a brunette's throat."

"Everyone is normal unlike you."

I rolled my eyes at her. "Whatever." I walked to the door and turned back to her, "all the best and see you later."

"Can I have this dance?" a young and handsome man asked me. I turned to look at him and I must confess I was speechless as I looked into his blue eyeballs.

I don't know how long I was in that position before someone cleared his throat.

"I get that reaction everywhere I go. But I really want to dance with you." By now, his hand was on the small of my back.

"Y-yes s-s-sure." I stammered.

What's wrong with you Sophia. Get a grip on yourself. Don't forget men are not worth it. I told myself.

His eyes never left mine.

"My name is Anthony. My friends call me Tony. What's yours?"

"I am Sophia Anderson. I came here with my friends."

"So can I call you Sophia?"

"No, it's S-O-P-H-I-A. I don't like Sophie so if you call me that, I won't answer."

He looked at me puzzled.

"Hmmmm, so feisty. I love that in women. So can I get to know you more than this?"

"I'm sorry that's not gonna happen. I have so much on my plate as it is and I don't have time for such."

He looked at me as if he was studying me as two other men walked up to us.

"Tony what is wrong with you? We've been searching for you for the past 30 minutes not knowing you were dancing here." The one with blond hair spoke.

The other one with a black hair and hazel eyes looked at me and I was immediately lost in his eyes. We were looking at each other as if we were the only ones there.

"What's this Damian? She's mine so back off." He came close to me sliding his hands on my waist.

"Wait, wait, wait, I'm belong to nobody.' I said removing his hands from my waist.

"But I met you first." He pouted, crossing his hands on his chest.

The Blondie whose name is Sergio pulled Tony aside. "Are you guys going to start a fight because of a nobody?"

The black haired that I was looking at bursted into laughter.

"Eh! I am not a nobody. My name is Sophia Anderson and I am proud to say that I am better than ten of you put together."

The black haired guy said, "feisty much."

"Hey, I don't want to know who you are and what you do but I won't have you causing a fight between my friends." Sergio said.

"Tony, Damian I'm out of here. I can't stand here." He scoffed and walked away.

"Tony, it was nice meeting you but I really have to go. My friends are waiting for me." I tried walking past them when Tony pulled my hand back.

"I will see you around." With that, he left my hand and I walked towards the waiters table looking for my friends.

When Tara saw me, she tapped Joseph's shoulder and whispered something inaudible to him and he turned to look at me.

"What was all that commotion about?" Joseph asked.

"I don't want to talk about it. I really need to leave now."

Tara stared at me and asked, "babe are you sure you are okay?"

"I'm fine. I will see you guys in the morning."

"Ok. Take care of yourself and I'll call you. We will see you tomorrow."

I heard them talking to themselves but it wasn't clear. I just walked out of the event centre and let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.

I flagged down a taxi and gave him my address.

I got home, showered and lied down flat on the bed.
