SPRING BREAK WAS ALWAYS one of my downtimes. It wasn't as haptic as Christmas break. Not as important as summer. Leaving enough time for the essential.
Some studies. But mostly spring cleaning, some stuff, catching up on my readings and films of my binge list. While my free time now just work, today and every day on the weekdays this break has been a slow day.
At lunch, Mister Russo dismisses me to eat with William, "Okay, this place has the best milkshakes." I inform walking into said diner.
"The best?" Will asks, "The best." I nod in agreement. Where he smiles amused at, "Fourth best fries. But definitely the best milkshake."
Taking a seat we catch up with everything we missed in the past two days we haven't seen. Having my phone buzz, I quickly glaze at it, "You can take it." Will offers. Shifting my gaze up, I shake my head. Silencing my phone, "It's not important." I deny.
Having the shakes and fries arrive at the table. I dunking my fries into the shake holding it out for him, "You need to try it."
Taking it he slowly puts it in his mouth. Slowly his eyes widen at the taste, "I know." I smile.
Another day, another food-related quest. Which left me with a fully loaded stomach passed out on the older Humphrey's bed. What left for an awkward breakfast buddy, "Hey." I smile awkwardly at Will's dad, Rufus, "I'm Valerie." I say, introducing myself again.
Taking my hand in his, he shakes it slowly, "I know." he nods, "Oh, I- I wasn't sure if you remembered me." I stutter, still not sure why people their parents always get me so nervous.
"I do." he smiles softly. Resuming his cooking, "Take a seat, take a seat." he encourages, seeing us both still stand. Setting down an empty plate in front of me. He holds up another, "Waffle?" he asks me. Making me nod eagerly, "Yes, please."
Eating with the two of them, was nicer then I expected. It was almost like a normal family setting.
That was until another member of their family he walked in, "V, I'm so-" the blond starts, "It's a fight between you and Blair. Figure it out yourselves." I cut off.
Nodding she takes the seat next to me. Which just felt awkward for all four of us, "Honest answer, J." I smile softly. The small act immediately relaxed her down and defused the tension in the room.
