Lena was at the school, standing at a lake, checking her watch every five minutes. 1pm..... 2pm...... 3pm...... 8:45pm...... 10 minutes.....

Lena couldn't stop thinking about the kiss. Kara's silky hair, her soft inviting lips. "Stop" , she told herself for the tenth time that day. Lena just couldn't put the pieces together. Why would Lena kiss her former best friend? They hadn't been this close since 6th grade and that was all thanks to Lena's mother.

The moon reflected in the dark water of the lake. As 9 o'clock drew closer, the Luthor began pacing more, leaving footprints in the snow.

Lena looked up from the ground to the clock ringing out 9 o'clock. There was no sign of Kara and the dark brunette became worried she wouldn't come. She wouldn't be surprised if she didn't. After all, it was her fault that they had grown apart. The Luthor continued to wait and pace, deciding to give Kara ten more minutes. Ten minutes passed and Lena was giving up hope of Kara coming. Lena looked down and began walking home.

Kara watched the Luthor walk away, hidden behind her tree. She was frozen. Frozen by the look on Lena's face. The dark brunette looked almost hurt that Kara didn't show up. Lena's green eyes looked broken, as if she had truly hoped Kara would show up to talk about that kiss.

"Lena?" Kara asked, stepping out from her hiding place. Hearing the Danvers's voice, Lena stopped and turned to her. "I'm sorry I made you wait so long. What did you want to talk about?"

"You know what I want to talk about." Lena responded, her cheeks turning red.

"Oh..." Kara simply said. What was she supposed to say? That she actually enjoyed the kiss? That she didn't want to stop? "I don't think it was a good idea, Lena."

Kara looked at the ground, wanting to sink into it of embarrassment. She didn't want to lie to Lena, but she had no option. If Lilian found out about them, she would kill them both.

"I'm sorry, but I have to go." Kara continued, "I have to go home, I have some things to do."

"Please..." Lena spoke. "Please, stay."

"What?"

"Just let me get this out." Lena said, approaching Kara. "I enjoyed last night. I was happy and I'm rarely happy. You know how I am, I am not saying this to make you feel better. I'm saying this, because it's true and you know I would never lie to you."

"Lena, I don't think we should-" Kara began, but she was soon interrupted by the dark brunette.

"How can I tell you what you mean to me?" Lena asked.

"Don't, Lena. Please..." Kara replied, not wanting to let her guard down.

Lena shook her head. "When I saw you at the ball, it was as if my heart started beating again. You lit up the room, bright in an ocean of black and white. And I thought- my life has been nothing but a dark, endless night. Then you came out like a rainbow and filled my black soul with colour."

"Lena, stop. I can't go down this road again."

"I'm sorry that my mother drove us apart. Yesterday, I thought I met someone who I could be the real me with, someone that I really connected with. Then we kissed, and it was.... amazing. Then, I learnt it was you and I couldn't believe it." Lena said, looking into Kara's warm blue eyes. "I am sorry for everything that has happened between us."

Kara was surprised. Not only was it a lot to take in, but Lena Luthor was apologising for her mother's actions. Kara always blamed Lena for ruining their friendship, but to be honest it was Lilian who ruined  everything Lena and Kara had. Just hearing Lena apologise, made Kara forget about the whole incident.

"It's okay, Lena. I forgive you."  Kara replied, smiling gently. "But that kiss, it was a mistake."

"Well, I want you to know..." Lena took a deep breah, preparing herself, looking into Kara's eyes. "That it was the most beautiful mistake I have ever made. And if I could do it all over again, I would, Kara."

Lena was nervous to see what Kara's response would be. After all, she had just confessed her love to the light brunette. Lena couldn't read the Danvers's face, not even when Kara came closer. Kara looked into Lena's eyes, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear and almost whispered when she spoke.

"Maybe that kiss was a mistake, but this one isn't."

Without words being spoken and thinking, Kara pulled Lena into a kiss, before Lena could grant her permisson.

But did it even matter to her?
