I pulled my crusted eyes open slowly, feeling an aching pain in my lower region as I turned on my side and released a heavy sigh that didn't help the aching at all. I reached up and wiped my eyes before reopening them and yawning loudly, I stared at the walls in uncertainty before I remembered what happened last night... or this morning. I looked up as I heard the door open and someone come slouching inside, luckily, someone was helping the person that was stumbling everywhere.
"We get fucked up allll the time." The person chuckled, making me stare at him unsurely because I knew he was drunk.
"Yeah, you got fucked up already... your head is gushing blood, and it's not healing on it's own." Now that Dr. Stephanie had pointed it out, I was able now see the blood soaking the man's white clothing.
"Haha, I have no clue what you're talking about." The man replied as Dr. Stephanie tried to carefully lay the large man down.
"I'm sure you don't, but we need to get you patched up fella." Dr. Stephanie replied, I slowly sat up and glanced around me to see many elixirs spaced around the small hut in an unfashionable way. "Thank God you're up."
I looked at Dr. Stephanie unsurely as I reached up and grabbed my throbbing head with a small moan, I struggled to not collapse back on the cot while releasing a heavy yawn and leaning forward a little while sitting. I squinted my eyes in the hope it'll help me with the dizziness but it only seemed to make it worse, I reached up and scrubbed the side of my hands into my eyes viciously, also hoping it'll help but I guess I wasn't that lucky. I needed to get out of here and fast, or I'll probably pass up and not be able to make the escape I need to.
I had only hoped to stay a night then be on my way, there was no way I could raise a child here, not with drunks walking around and hurting themselves to cause blood to gush out of their head similar to a nearly empty flushing hydrant. He was completely cloaked in blood and I was a little worried that he lost an abundance of it before he made it to the hut, what if I'm forced to watch a man die because I'm to dizzy to even make it out the cot. I felt my stomach protest the thoughts of someone dying in the cot beside me, I had to think of easier things or I'll pass out before even knowing what happens to the poor guy.
"Hey!" I nearly jumped off the cot in alert as I cut my eyes to Dr. Stephanie swiftly. "I'm talking to you."
The man had now went limp and that only made me worry more as I nervously glanced from her to the man then back at her, I was terrified of what to do because I was never put in this predicament before, never in my life. I slowly braced a foot on the floor before sliding off the tall cot and looking at Dr. Stephanie while she laid the man and put a heavy cloth over the gaping cut above the man's eyebrow.
"Grab that brown stuff-"
"T-This?" I asked, pointing a shaky finger as it laid by my cot.
"Yup, take a swig, sweet-cheeks." She said, I cut my eyes to her in alert as she looked at me impatiently. "Hurry, I'm going to need your help."
I sighed before grabbing the bottle of sloshing brown liquid, I took a heavy breath and wiggled the cork screw out, I had no clue what this stuff was but I had to trust this doctor if I wanted to get better. I had to think smart and this had to be smart... right? I sighed and swigged a mouth full, swallowing the liquid before pausing to get a taste. I felt the tension release from my shoulders as I heard Dr. Stephanie squeak in shock as I recoiled from the sudden aftertaste.
"Not that much!" She squealed, hurrying to me and yanking the elixir bottle away from me.
"It's disgusting!" I cried, reaching up while sticking my tongue out to wipe away the disgusting mush that now rested there.
