Dear you,
Kids were running around with flowers, bears, and many chocolate goodies. Some were even screaming and crying, fanning their face to cool themselves down.
Why is Valentine's day so emotional? To me it's just a day, a day to spoil a loved one. People take it too far, with those giant teddy bears and hundreds of dollars spent just for a single day.
And yet, here I stand by your locker - with our friends- waiting anxiously for you to show up. Our friends chat idly, waiting for the outcome. Must they judge everything we do?
The anxiety of what you might think gnaws at me like a beaver and a tree. Will you like your flowers? You aren't allergic are you? I hope not, the last thing I want is to kill you. Will you like your chocolate? You like chocolate don't you?
I watch as you walk, a smile on your face. Then my eyes zoned in on the single rose you flaunt around, waving it in front of the one that nearly kissed you.
My eyes searched frantically within the group of our friends, searching for that one. The one that nearly stole that kiss that was supposed to be mine. Did I miss something?
I heard a gasp from the group, "oh, gosh."
My eyes find them, then back to you, then to the objects in my hand. I shoved them all in the hands to the person closest to me, grumbling. "Screw this," I said loudly- not loud enough for you- and walked away fast.
Why, Birdie? Did I miss something? I don't understand, I'm just lost for words.
My heart once soared with the idea of giving you those things, but now it dives fast into the pits of hell. With the thought of you with the one that nearly stole that kiss.
Why, Birdie?
