"Lilly! Table four needs their food!"
I groaned and wiped my arm across my forehead. I took a moment to lean against the table behind me and catch my breath.
"Table four now, Lilly!"
I groaned and rushed the dishes into the back, knowing that I'd be responsible for washing them since Deliah hadn't shown up. I grabbed the plates for table four and rushed over.
"Hi, I am so sorry for the wait, who had the bacon cheeseburger with overloaded tots?" I proceeded to pass out all the food to the correct people. "Anything else I can get you guys?"
"Your number?" I paused and turned to look at the guy in front of me. He looked like he'd be tall, he had dark hair and eyes, sharp jawline, fit body. I shrugged.
"Okay." I scribbled my number on a napkin and got back to work, dreading doing those damn dishes.
I made my way around the diner, taking orders, passing out checks, cleaning up tables, and anything else.
"Hey, sugar?"
I raised my eyebrows at the guy who I'd given my number to as I handed their change back to them.
"You never gave me your name?"
"I never planned to. Have a nice day boys." I nodded to them and took their plates to the back. The rush had slowed down so I donned some gloves and started on the dishes.

I counted my tips as I grabbed my bag from the back. $160. I smiled and rested my head back against the lockers. That was more than I usually got in a day. I thanked the Lord I'd picked up doubles for the last three days. I wouldn't have any trouble with bills this month.
I made my way out to my car and climbed in, already thinking about a steaming hot bubble bath. I cranked my car and pulled out of the parking lot, only to have my phone ring. I didn't recognize the number.
"Hello?"
"I'm sure there's some unspoken rule that I'm supposed to wait a day before calling you, but I never was good at following rules."
"Okay. What does this have to do with me, and who is this?"
"Right. I'm Jasper. You gave me your number today at the diner."
"Oh okay, what's up?"
"Well, this is kinda the part where you tell me your name?" I rolled my eyes. "But we should do something tomorrow night, are you free?"
"I don't do dates."
"Then it's not a date."
"Then I guess I'll be there."
"Okay, great. Goodnight..."
"Lilly."
I pulled into my driveway and hopped out. I ran inside and went straight to my bathroom, turning the hot water all the way up and adding some cold. I poured bubble bath in and dropped a bath bomb as well. I made my way to the kitchen and popped some popcorn before grabbing some wine and a glass. I brought it all back to my bathroom and stripped, stepping into the tub. I hissed at the initial sting from the hot water, squeezing my eyes shut as I sat down. I poured myself a glass of wine and grabbed a handful of popcorn, laying my head back against the tub.
