"You know, usually when a boy invites a girl out he drives her."
"That's only if it's a date, and this isn't a date."
"Right."
I looked Jasper over and nodded lightly. He was dressed casually in joggers and a soft looking gray shirt with a jacket thrown over his shoulders. He looked relaxed. I had opted to go with a white shirt tucked into blue jean shorts and a light gray jacket, although the heat didn't allow us to wear our jackets for long.
"So what are we doing here?" I looked at the outlets around us, my eye lingering on an ice cream shop two stores down.
"Whatever you want. There's stores to clothes shop, there's a movie theater, there's a Barnes & Nobel, and food. Also if we stay awhile there's live music. It's nice."
"So if I decide to shop, you're going to come with me? Willingly?"
He grimaced but nodded his head and I grinned at him.
"Okay then, I'll hold you to that."
"I feel like I should regret that, but I'm not going to."
"Ice cream?" I pointed at the little store we'd just stepped in front of and he nodded and followed me in. I ordered a salted caramel cone and he got boring vanilla. "Who goes to get ice cream and gets vanilla? What kind of person are you?"
"I can promise you, my preference in ice cream does not in any way reflect on my preferences in...other areas."
"Well then," I reached over and patted his chest, "you'll just have to show me when we leave huh?"
•••••
After walking around a bit and looking in some stores my feet were aching and I wanted to sit. I told Jasper that I was ready to leave.
"How about you come somewhere with me? I know some of my friends are meeting up at this cool place I'm sure you'd like it."
"Okay, text me the addy and I'll be there." He nodded at me and I turned and walked back to my car. My phone dinged with the text from him and I sat for a minute wondering if I was actually going to go with him or just go home. I sighed and entered it into maps before cranking up my car and pulling out.
Twenty minutes later I pulled up in front of a club. "Are you fucking kidding me?" I groaned but got out anyway and made my way to the entrance, showed my ID for a wrist band, and went in. I pulled my phone out as it started to vibrate.
"Hey, where are you?"
"Just walked in and I'm heading to the bar." I hung up and made my way over.
"Hi!" I looked over to see a man standing next to me. I nodded a little and turned back to the bar to wait for the bartender. "Can I buy you a drink!" That caught my attention.
"Sure!"
He nodded a little too enthusiastically and waved the bartender over, making me roll my eyes as he was clearly busy. "I'm Dustin!" He held his hand out and I took it just as the bartender made his way over. He began to yell his order over the music before turning to me.
"A couple shots!" The bartender nodded and fixed our drinks, getting the money from Devon before moving on.
"Do you want to dance?!" I looked him over really quick. I downed both of my shots before yelling a quick 'no' over the music and leaving to find Jasper.
"Hey! There you are, I've been looking for you!" A hand grabbed my arm and lead me over to some stools at the bar. I turned ready to beat someone's ass, calming down when I saw it was just Jasper. "We're not going to stay here, we're heading out to eat! Do you want to come?!"
I thought about it for a moment before deciding I could eat and nodding.
We all left and walked to a diner a few buildings down and picked a booth near a window. We ordered drinks and introduced ourselves.
He had three friends with him. The first was a girl who was hot as hell. Her name was Alex and she had straight black hair, bangs, and green eyes. I wouldn't mind hanging out with her privately.
The next one, Jake, was average looking. He had brown hair and brown eyes, he was pretty fit. I'd bed him.
The last friend was a guy, a fucking hot one. They called him Jay. He had green eyes and black hair, probably Alex's brother. He had a strong jawline and I knew from when we'd walked over here that he was taller than all of us. Fuck, I'd do him twice.
I sat next to Jasper while the other three sat across from us, Alex in the middle and Jake on the outside.
"So, how did you two meet?" Alex folded her hands in front of her and smiled at me.
"He came into the diner I work in and asked for my number."
"Oh, where do you work?"
"Annie's, it's an older place but it's nice. It gets really busy too." She nodded and opened her mouth again
but was interrupted when the waiter came by to take our orders. He started with Jake and since I was on the outside I went last. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and onion rings."Anything else, doll?" He smiled at me.
"Not just yet, but if anything comes to mind I'll let you know." I smiled back and he nodded and left. He was pretty cute.
"You know," Jay spoke up, "it's pretty rude to flirt with someone while you're on a date with someone else."
"I wasn't flirting with him. Maybe I was just trying to be nice? And besides, I'm not on a date with anyone." I flashed Jay a bright smile.
"She's right." Jasper threw his arm around my neck. "This isn't a date."
Jay rolled his eyes and everyone started talking about things I didn't care to hear. I put my arms on the table and folded my hands together to rest my chin on them.
"Elbows off the table." Everyone fell quiet.
"What?"
"Take your elbows off the table. Have some manners." I scoffed at him but did what he asked.
"Mind your business." I glared and him and he just glared back.
"Watch your tone." I just stared at him. Was he serious?
"Okay, how about we move on, and you can tell us about yourself?" I looked away from Jay and focused on Alex.
"What do you want to know?"
