Kaoru's P.O.V
I ran down the halls, catching up to Hikaru as we rushed down to the end of the top floor, North Hall, of the South Campus of Ouran Academy. "Hikaru! Wait up!" I yelled after him as he sprinted ahead. I sped up my own pace as I tried to catch up. I kept panting and panting, not very attractive, but no one was watching so why worry?
"You're always so slow! You're going to make us late!" Hikaru called back with a charming smile of his. I shyly smiled back and finally caught up, We had reached Music Room number three, where the Host Club is held everyday after-school. Hikaru and I were hosts of the club, along with Tamaki, Honey, Mori, Kyoya, and Haruhi, who is actually a girl, but no one else knows but the club.
We entered and the others had already had our customers with them, and me and Hikaru's were patiently waiting. Hikaru and I walked over to the table and Hikaru rubbed the back of his neck in an embarrassment kind of way, "Sorry ladies, but Kaoru was just so slow he made me wait up for him and that's why we are so late!" he sort of chuckled near the end in an apologetic way.
We sat down and the ladies forgave us. "Anyways, Kaoru is such a slowpoke! He always takes his time doing things and we are rarely on time for class!"
I took this point to step in on our act. I looked him straight in the eye with sad eyes and I say, "Hikaru! How could you say that! You know you were the first to learn how to walk! I was always second for learning everything..." I looked away, 'ashamed' of Hikaru.
He quickly reacted by grabbing my chin and making me face him. "Kaoru, I do know that, but what you don't know is that you're always the first thing I think of when I wake up in the morning..." he stares lustfully into my eyes and my eyes soften in his. An intense stare happens and the ladies giggle and blush at us.
"I don't know if I can stand it anymore, I just can't look!" one of the girls say. Everything else is slurred in my ears because I only concentrate on the beautiful face in front of me. We just keep staring into each-other's eyes until one of us stops. Hikaru took the chance and slowly let go of my face. Haruhi brought us some tea and set it on the table.
"Oh, hello Haruhi," me and Hikaru say in unison. Haruhi glances at us and nods.
Hikaru sighs, "You seem a bit quiet today,"
"More quiet than usual," I add.
Haruhi sort of smiles. "Well, I'm just thinking about our test tomorrow."
Hikaru and I nod, we already studied for it this morning, and we won't have time this afternoon. We both are going to be helping Kyoya with the magazines the club is selling tomorrow. We have to hand in the pictures we took of Tamaki, Honey, and Mori. Kyoya already took some pictures of Haruhi, and we have to take pictures of each other.
"See you guys later." Haruhi says politely and walks off to her table.
Hikaru and I smirk at each-other, both planning the same thing. We both grab hats and face the ladies, "Let's play the 'Which One is Hikaru Game!" We smiled and the ladies clapped in excitement.
Hikaru and I shuffled ourselves before facing the ladies again. "So, which one of us is Hikaru?" We both say. One of the girls hesitated, but pointed to me. "Uh oh! You got it wrong!"
"Aw! I thought I got it for sure this time!" She said sadly, and the two other girls smiled at her, "We thought so too." They said. It is kind of disappointing that they don't get us right.

When the host club was finished for the afternoon, Kyoya, Hikaru and I stayed back for the magazines. Kyoya opened up his laptop and showed us his latest issues. We handed him the photos we took and he saved them onto his laptop. "That's all I really need," Kyoya says. "Thanks for helping, you can go."
"But, don't you need pictures of us for the magazines?" We inquire.
Kyoya shakes his head. "No, I already got those." That doesn't surprise me. Sounds like something he always does.
Hikaru and I shrug and head off to go home. "Well, today was fairly busy!" Hikaru exclaims.
"Yeah," I said sort of lowly, I don't like it when it's busy because we have to stay longer.
Hikaru turns to me and sees the look on my face. "What's the matter Kaoru? Did me telling them you are slow actually made you feel bad?" He asks.
I shook my head. "No, it's nothing." I murmured. I keep staring at the floor.
"Kaoru, you know I know you're upset, tell me!" He persisted. My pace picked up and I was ahead of him.
Hikaru laughs, "Now you speed up!" He catches up with me. I stay silent. He reaches for my hand and I grab his, looking up at him with a smile. He raises an eyebrow and shakes his head. "You faker!"
I chuckle and I kept holding his hand, all the way until we got to the limousine, and we got in. "Kaoru, what should we do today?" Hikaru asked me.
"We have that test tomorrow, so maybe we should study." I replied.
"But I don't want to study, Kaoru, I want something fun to do!" and with that he added a grin. He slid over, getting closer to me. I stared in his eyes and he did back into mine. Nothing was said or done, just silence. We did not flinch nor twitch, for neither of us had to. We were perfectly okay with each-other, perfectly fine. It was always him and I, and no one else. Everyone else were idiots to us, people who didn't meet our expectations. We were the only ones who could satisfy the other.
We had arrived home, and when we finally noticed, the car had stopped moving. We grabbed our stuff and had the chauffeur open the doors for us. We said nothing and kept walking on. A cool breeze blew through me and I shivered, the coldness touching some of my bare skin. I breathed out slowly to see if I could see the cloud of mist called breath in this cold wind. I smiled as I did. I was happy for the snow coming.
Hikaru probably seen what I was doing, because he blew out his breath and saw it too. He smiled over at me, he knows I love winter. I smiled back with a little shyness.
We finally got inside and we took off our shoes and slipped our slippers on. We rushed upstairs to do our 'studying'. I never know if we are or aren't, it's always Hikaru's decision. We got into the study and dropped our stuff on the floor, carelessly leaving everything to the maids and servants. We sat down on the love-seat and took out our study notes; I guess we are studying.
I opened my book and Hikaru reached over to turn the pages in my textbook, carefully gilding his finger down each page as he turned them. I watched him and waited until he found the right page. I placed my hand over his to stop him, and he went back to his textbook.

We headed to bed, gathering our pajamas from our beds where the maids have placed them. I silently turned away from Hikaru to change, as always. I found it awkward to change in front of him, I have no idea why, but it was always a habit. I had slipped my pants on and buttoned up my shirt when I turned to see Hikaru already lying down in his bed. I lay down in my own bed and closed my eyes. It felt strange not talking to Hikaru before bed. We usually talk about other people, laughing at their idiotic selves. Tonight was different.
I stared up at the ceiling for who knows how long; I couldn't sleep. I thought about how I want things to be. What I wanted to do when I graduate. I heard movement to my left and I saw Hikaru tossing and turning. I threw the blankets off of me and walked over to his bed. His blankets and sheets were all messed up and some were falling to the ground. Hikaru's eyes fluttered open and saw me. "What do you need, Kaoru? Did you have another nightmare?" He asked, rubbing his right eye and he sat up.
I shyly smiled. "Yeah," I lied. I didn't want to bother him, but I guess he is a light sleeper. He smiled back and patted the side of the bed. I crawled in and slid under the blankets, at ease now that I'm not sleeping alone. I shrugged off the top blanket off my chest. He always has tons of blankets on, and it makes it really hot.
"Here," he said, unbuttoning my shirt casually and taking it off. "Better?" he questioned. I nodded and laid on the pillow, facing Hikaru and he faced me. "Goodnight, Kaoru," he whispered.
"Goodnight Hikaru," I whispered back. My eyes slowly closed as I grew more tired. I felt a hand push my hair out of my face and carressed it, until I fell into a deep sleep.
