"Who is this girl?" Wilhelm sighed reading through his documents.

"I don't know father." He put his scroll down waving over anearby scribe to take it from him to put in a safe place to wait forhim to go over it at a better time. Standing he followed his father.

"I thought you said you can handle this Wilhelm?" He asked andthe prince sighed looking away from the hard face of his father.

"I will father, it will take a bit of time." He pushed some ofhis hair out of his eyes and used the excuse of looking through someflowers to not meet the hard eyes of his father. "She is a powerfulMaker, I have not ever even heard of one as strong as this Natasha."He said his eyes shining with the greed and ambition as well as hisfather's.

"Then make her bend to your will."

"I can not father, you know that." He said and turned to the kingwho glowered at him. "Father think of it, it is all mental power;we can not force her physically nor mentally. The only way we can gether to do as we wish is to make her want to."

"Then make her want to." Wilhelm somehow, and honestly he didn'tknow know how, he kept from rolling his eyes at his father.

"I am finding out what it is that she wants." He explained andlooked to his father with bright eyes, excited to have someone tobounce ideas off of. "I know she does not want luxury, does notwant power, she has adopted a cause. I just have to figure out who itwas for that she took that cause and I can get her to do what Iwant."

"You think love has swayed her?" His father asked and Wilhelmdidn't think that but now that he heard his father saying that itmade perfect sense. What else could have someone sacrifice themselvesbut love?

It was a shame, with her power she could do so much. To Wilhelm hewondered about that, how could you love someone and let them die? Hedidn't really believe in the romance plays and 'courtly love' thatwas in fashion right now. Love like that didn't exist, but loyaltydid.

But if she had flowers in her eyes...she didn't seem the type but itwas possible he supposed. Maybe that was the problem.

"If she is, it'll mean my job will be even harder." Wilhelm themrealized what he had said and quickly spoke more. "But it is only aminor step back, I will somehow sway her."

"Still so young." His father shook his head as if disappointmentand Wilhelm felt the familiar lead in his gut. "Do you honestly notsee the opportunity this is?" He asked with a slimy smile takingover his ancient face.

"Father?"

"If she is a romantic it is easy, my boy." He chuckled in a waythat still, after all his life, still sent something cold and wrongwrapping around the prince's spine. "Win her heart, and you'll winher loyalty."

"Her heart?"

"Yes. Her heart. She is locked away, only seeing you. You are afit, handsome young man. You can't possibly mess up." He hummedcontinuing on and Wilhelm blinked hurrying after him.

"Father, this is not a good idea."

"Even you can not mess this up." The king rolled his eyes andWilhelm frowned, this would not work. He had no idea where theconviction came from, but he could feel it.

"Father there are many problems; she is already in love-"

"Away from the apple of her eye, what is to hold her?" He askedand chuckled, "of course for a while she will resist, but with onlyyou to give her company, to make her feel better? To chase away theloneliness, what choice will she have?" He asked an evil gleam inhis brown eyes, "you will for a while have to work, but if she istoo feisty for your taste, deny her your attention for a while. Thatwill bring her to heel." He nodded pleased with his plan, this wasgood. Everything would come to its natural conclusion soon enough.

"But then what would keep her mine once she was? She couldn't be avery good part-Maker or not-while she is locked away." He pointedout and his father shrugged.

"It will take some work when she is out but keep your dalliancesfrom her, and you'll be fine." He scoffed, "the wooing will be soeasy a daft man could figure it out. If you can't even keep her underyour thumb..." he didn't bother finishing and Wilhelm frowned, hehad heard this before.

But she'd be so much harder than Opal. Opal wanted what Wilhelm'sname and standing could do for her. This would be winning someone forhimself and himself alone. Plus if he broke her, would she remain asstrong?

It would be a shame to break one made of fire and thunder.

"Then what do we do with Opal? Or should I wait for her to break somuch she would take to being my mistress with relish?" He asked andhis father paused before shrugging.

"We will deal with the problem of Opal when the time comes." Theking answered walking away as Wilhelm watched him frowning butresolved to do what his father said.
