Michelle pulled up to Paige's house with a weird feeling in her stomach. What am I gonna do about James? She knew she shouldn't panic. After all she is in a relationship and won't be around him much. Just the knowing that the playboy who hit on her often was going on the same trip was, well, nerve-wracking.
Speaking of relationship Michelle's mind wondered where Kyle was. She hadn't heard from him all day. He wasn't replying to texts or even the two calls Michelle left back to back. Her thumb went over the screen of her phone as she took a deep breath. Kyle was gonna be the end of her.
"Michelle! Come on, get out of the car!" Paige said knocking on the window. Michelle looked to her friend, trying her best to hide her worry about Kyle with a smile.
Michelle and Paige entered into the huge mansion that Paige and her parents called home. Paige's mother was a neurosurgeon and Paige's father was a bartender. According to Paige they met at her fathers bar; Now that was an interesting story to hear.
Paige walked through the main hall and around the stairs in the direct middle of the walkway. Michelle followed behind quietly, looking at all the photos she had seen a billion times. The one that always caught her eye was Paige's mother and Paige with their Great Dane, Pickles.
Speaking of Pickles, he ran across the room and slammed on his brakes right in front of Michelle. He bumped her leg and began wagging his tail so hard his butt was also shaking. Michelle reached down and stroked his fur, planted a kiss on his head before walking after Paige.
"So what do you think?" Paige asked as she stopped outside the roof of the house. Michelle walked through the open door to the porch. She examined all the decorations of gold and pink that were lightly sprinkled across the fenced in backyard.
"It looks great." Michelle admitted as she walked down the porches steps to the stone path leading to the pool. Paige followed her around the small garden and once they reached the pool clapped her hands together.
"So, you gonna show me the full getup?" Paige asked with a raised eyebrow. Michelle smiled and looked down at her large t-shirt that covered her bathing suit.
"Maybe later." Paige nodded before skipping past to Opal who was sitting at one of the many tables. Michelle waved at Opal when they made eye contact.
"Hey girl!" Michelle said with a smile.
"Hi!" Opal replied when Michelle took a seat at the table. Michelle pushed a smile to the surface as she leaned back in the chair and gripped her phone.
"So, you all ready to loose your minds?" Paige asked as she held up alcohol. Michelle nodded and motioned for Paige to pour her a glass. Opal shook her head in disappointment.
"Why do you drink? It is illegal you know."
"No one is gonna know." Paige mumbled, clearly upset with the 'party pooper.' Opal sighed and looked towards the pool.
"I mean what if something happens? Like what if one of you falls into the pool and drowns?"
"Terence has got us." Paige said motioning towards the attractive adult on the far side of the pool. "Just relax." Michelle smiled as Paige poured her a small shot glass. Michelle held the shot glass to her mouth and tilted her head back, feeling the familiar burn of the alcohol as she swallowed. Michelle set down the glass and felt the fake smile become easier.
"Did you hire a bartender?"
"My dad is here so we 'drink responsibly.' Like we wouldn't anyways."
"You're dad is okay with underage drinking?!" Opal exclaimed as she sat up in her seat.
"For the most part he's okay with anything. Just no sex on the couch, no weed, and no drugs."
