"You ready, blondie?" Wooyoung challenged, bouncing and shaking his shoulders in anticipation, eyes wide in excitement.

"This must be the single stupidest idea you've ever had"

"As if" cackled the younger before diving into the water fifteen feet below.

San flinched back in horror, as Wooyoung let out a cheerful cry, before hitting the surface in a spectacularly loud splash. They were at Cheonggyecheon river, near their college, and San had never felt more intimated by heights. His dongsaeng had discovered a cornice from which they could jump, and insisted the older joined him.

"I won't jump, forget it!" Shouted San from the peak of the cornice. He was beginning to get goosebumps form the fresh air on his almost naked body. It had been a long time since he'd worn a bathing suit.

"Aw, you're no fun! You can't stick to the plan!"  Wooyoung seemed absolutely carefree, swimming around in the river and staring disappointedly at San.

"You know," the older mused "When you said you had an 'idea' I thought you wanted to break Yunho and Mingi up!"

"What the hell no, who do you think I am, the evil queen??"

San flushed red. "Well I don't know, that's what they do in movies!"

"This ain't a movie now jump before I go back up there and push your ass down."

San sighed, rubbed his arms to warm up, and glanced around before closing his eyes and jumping straight into the river. He let out a terrorized scream, as the air blew around him and whistled in his ears. And then water crashed around his slim body, cold as ice at first but getting warmer as he swam to the surface. San let out a delighted laugh, as the stress fell and he simply enjoyed the heat of the September sun on his skin. He slowly opened his eyes, still shocked at what he had just did.

"So? Not that bad, was it!"

"What are you talking about," muttered San. "Worst experience of my life."

"It worked though!"

"It didn't."

"Yes it did! Were you thinking about Yunho?"

San's mouth slightly opened, the question stunning him. "Now that you ask it no."

"It worked then!" Wooyoung cheered, his smile making his eyes almost close.

"Well now I'm thinking about him, dumbass." San rolled his eyes before bitterly splashing the other.

"YA!" Wooyoung pouted before splashing San back.

Tired of bathing in the cold water, the older swam to the shore and grabbed his towel. "You're like a child, you know that?" He said, vigorously rubbing his hair to dry it.

Wooyoung followed after him, wrapping his own towel around his waist. "If only," he resentfully mouthed.

"What did you say? Sorry I have water in my ear."

"Nothing." Wooyoung paused before ranting. "It's just that I feel like I'm still mourning my childhood, you know? Like I never really got the time to fully enjoy it. Don't you think society nowadays forces kids to grow up too fast?" He had said that in a single breath, packing his stuff while staring at the ground.

There was an agonizing silence, before San carefully responded. "I think... Everyone feels that way, I get what you mean. We were all kids to begin with, and I think it's just hard to let go of that."

Wooyoung turned towards San, taken aback. "Yeah... That's exactly what I meant. Nice to know someone else thinks that way."

San understandingly nodded, also avoiding the other's eyes.

"SO!" Wooyoung resumed, the wide smile back on his face. "That was great but my shift starts at 5 pm." And on that note he turned on his heels and confidently made his way out of the thin woods, hanging onto both straps of his backpack, into downtown Seoul.

San was baffled. "Well that was deep," he hummed, finishing to pack his bag before journeying back to his house. While he was walking, he noticed that in the end, he hadn't thought that much about Yunho, and nor did he brood on his own romantic despair. Maybe Wooyoung's seemingly stupid plan might work after all. It also felt good to actually have fun, without having to worry about school or exams.

By the time San had come back to his house, the sun was almost set and his mother's car was parked in the driveway. They didn't live in a very rich area, considering they had just moved from Namhae when San entered college. His mom had the night shift at a local pharmacy, making it difficult for the both of them to spend time together. It didn't matter much to San though, he was closer to his grandparents anyway. They had practically raised him.

He entered the house, tossing his keys on a nearby table and taking his shoes off.
"Hey mom!"

"Hello sweetie!" His mother was already dressed for work, rummaging around to gather her working material. "Gosh, have you seen my keys? I'm going to be late!"

"Just take mine."

"Ugh thank you baby," she gratefully accepted, grabbing the keys on the table where he had just put them. "Good night!" She then kissed both his cheeks before bolting out the door.

"Good night."

"GOD I WAS SO CLOSE!" Cried Wooyoung, throwing his controller across the room, as the game over sign blinked on his tv screen.

"You have lost"

"Yeah shut up" The boy grumbled reaching to grab his controller. He pressed the buttons but nothing worked. "Goddammit, it's the second one this month," he whined, throwing himself back into his bean bag. "Guess I'll need to go buy another then."

"And while you're on your way, get me some bananas, will you?" Yelled his sister from the kitchen.

The boy walked down the busy streets, hands shoved into his jacket pockets. The night was windy and it was getting cooler and cooler at this time of the year. Kids were playing around the candy store, exchanging chocolates while another threw some to catch them with his mouth.

"Good times," scoffed Wooyoung. He finally approached the electronics shop, but stopped right in his tracks, startled by the spectacle in front of him.

"You're ALWAYS with him Yunho! How can I NOT be upset by that?"

"Mingi CALM DOWN, everyone's staring!"

"Don't tell me to calm down, I have the right to ask that! You and him have been friends since like forever!" Yunho opened his mouth to say something but the other cut him off. "And you want to know something? Even I thought you were dating! I've liked you for TWO YEARS now, and the whole time that guy made me feel like I didn't stand a chance. And I still don't know if you like him or not!"

"Of course I don't, why would you think that?"

Mingi gazed around, realizing everyone that passed by stared at them. He then gently took his boyfriend by the shoulders, the gesture making Wooyoung's heart clench, and moved them closer to the buildings.
Wooyoung stepped closer to continue to hear their conversation, hidden behind a tteokbokki stand a few feet away.

"Look I don't want to make a show", carried on Mingi. "It's just that... I feel bad when I look at the chemistry you two have. And you can't blame me for finding it suspicious you spend all your time together!"

Yunho scoffed, pushing his way around his boyfriend. "I'm disappointed in you, Mingi, and I hope you learn to trust people in the future." He then walked away, sending an apologetic look to people who had witnessed the scene. Mingi waited a few seconds, eyes following his boyfriend down the street. Wooyoung couldn't see his face, but he could feel his pain and wanted hug him tight, stroking his hair until he forgot about Yunho. But all he did was hastily hide his face, feigning he was buying hot dogs as Mingi passed by him, in the opposite direction his boyfriend went.

Walking to his house with a new controller and a bag of bananas, Wooyoung still couldn't grasp what he had just saw. Mingi and Yunho were, at least it seemed, and unproblematic couple. Them fighting was as frequent as tectonic plates shifting. "Well that's a new."
