Scarlet | A Pokemon Story

Scarlet

Scarlet the Zangoose was once a child with a seemingly endless amount of energy and an optimistic look on life. As a young boy he was told that everything happened for some sort of reason and that Arceus had a plan, so even after he lost both of his parents to an unknown murderer who invaded their little hut on that fateful night he still kept up hope that something good might come from losing his parents. After living in the forest and fending for himself against bandits and aggressive Pokémon from the age of 6 to 8 he had finally caught a break when a captain from the Kazam guild seen him battling a Poocheyena trying to steal berries from an innocent Sunkern and decided to offer a spot in the guild . The young and still optimistic Scarlet was interested and followed the older Pokémon asking who he was while they were walking and he replied "why I'm captain Kane the Nidoking, I seen the way you handled that Poocheyen and I'd like to recruit you, but only if it's okay with you." Scarlet was confused, he had heard of guilds before but had never seen one, so he asked Kane "What exactly is a guild mister Kane. Kane explained "A guild is a place where Pokémon come together and form teams accepting request from others in need and solving problems that civilian Pokémon aren't authorized to solve, think of it as a superhero job, you help people and you get rewarded for you good deeds." The idea of being a hero and helping people in need was one that Scarlet could really get behind and without any thought he happily accepted Kane's offer stating "I will join and strive to be the greatest guild member there ever was, I'll fight for others and by the end of each mission I'll make sure that whoever I'm helping is smiling and feeling safe around me cause they know I'm the greatest!!!"

8 Years Later

"CHIME CHIME, CHIME CHIME, IT'S TIME TO WAKE UP SECTION 3! CHIME CHIME, CHIME CHIME" Lily the Chimecho yelled through the halls. Everyone in the room got up except for Scarlet. The wood creaked as everyone jumped out of bed and got ready for breakfast. Everyone in the room went through the door running down the halls of the building. The Kazam guild was split into 5 sections all basically identical. They were five small  two story apartments  surrounding a grand building directly in the middle in a shape that would make a star if you were to use the apartments to play connect the dots on an overhead map. The apartments had a brick exterior and a mostly wood interior. The floors and counters were made of wood and the walls were bricks with painted to look and blend in with the dark brown wood. There were two bunk beds per room and there were two stories with ten rooms each.

Scarlet was still in his bed, though he was not asleep. He was just lying there wide awake, thoughtless. He didn't want to get up, he didn't want to be around so many Pokémon, he'd rather stay in his bed hungry if it meant he didn't have to be in a big open cafeteria containing all 5 sections of the guild.

*knock knock knock* "Hey Scarlet may I come in?" A polite feminine voice says from the other side of the door. "No Aria you may not come in." Scarlet grumbled. Aria was a female Lucario who claimed to be Scarlet's best friend and though he never openly claimed her as such he did actually see her as a friend. "Pleaseeeee Scarlet, I just want to hang out, we've both been so busy with Missions and now we finally have some free time. So why don't you come outside and spend it doing something other napping!" Aria exclaimed. Scarlet reluctantly got out of his bed and opened the door for Aria letting her in. She was immediately shocked to see how Scarlet was doing. He looked like a zombie, he had dark spots  under his eyes and he could barely walk straight. "Scarlet are you ok!" She panicked, "Yeah yeah don't worry about it I'm fine, perfectly okay, a-ok even, I feel better than a- than-..." Scarlet's was slurring all his words and before he could finish his sentence he suddenly went limp and fell to the ground. Aria caught him before he could land face first on the wooden floors. He was unconscious.
