" the moon girl should know her place. "

she can't think, her mind was frozen in fear and utter shock. her blood ran cold like a river in the cold, harsh winter. there, was your motionless body slumped against the wooden wall of a house, shared by a fellow villager. your once beautiful (e/c) that shared warmth was now deprived from its essence and blankly stared down into the deep velvet snow.

your bloodcurdling screams, rem can hear them in her head repeatedly over and over again elicited harsh tears running down her cheeks. she dashed over to your form, wrapping her arms around your body, her throat now burning from the desperate screams of your name. your skin was so cold, skin was so unbelievably pale that it almost resembles the pure white snow, except, it was stained with your crimson blood.

anger sparks a sensation from deep within that almost made her loose herself. " who did this..! " poison dripped from her lips as she growls with such hatred, ready to torture your wrenched murder until he was just a heap of broken bones.

heavy footsteps came from behind her, she immediately snapped her head around in rage to see a man clad in a familiar onyx cloak. though, a mask was covering his face, she can feel his taunting eyes stare into her soul. " witch cult!— "

" don't comeback rem, it's not safe. "

in a split second, her teary eyes snapped open to only meet darkness. almost desperate for air as she quickly rises up and drew quick harsh breaths from between her teeth. it took her a moment to regain her composure realizing it was only a mere nightmare, but of course, she felt uneasy.

her immediate thought was you. were you okay? she peeled the covers off her body, and got off the bed, floorboards letting out a soft creak as she makes her towards the door and find herself in the middle of the narrow hallway. it was quite chilly and dark but nonetheless, she braces herself and made her way to your door which took her a bit to get to.

it was foolish of her to do this but she just had to make sure you were okay for herself. letting out a sheepish sigh, she knocked softly on the wooden door. " y/n? are you awake? " she questions, a sliver of nervousness in her voice. there was a small pause— " oh? rem? i'm awake, you can come in. "

with a smile of relief at the graceful sound of your voice, she quietly opens the door, quite happy to see your confused countenance and lively (e/c) hues looking back at her. " i can't sleep so i thought i'd join you. "

you sat up from your bed, swinging your legs off the bed, chuckling, and patted a spot next to you. " i'm pretty restless myself, make yourself comfortable. " she sat down next to you, instinctively intertwining her fingers with yours, resting her head on your shoulder. " too comfortable, hm? " you husk, drinking in the light of rem's scent; it was like the blooming of spring and mid–march.

" i just miss you, that's all. so of course i'll be this ' comfortable ' with you. " the blue–haired giggles, bringing your knuckles to her lips and pecked them. bliss moments like this eases her from her mind, but the vivid image of your lifeless eyes is however not forgotten, and she vows that she'd protect you from that fate; you were her reason to die, and she won't allow anyone to take that away from her.

" something's on your mind? i just think it's unlikely for you to come here in the middle of the night like this. " you explained, squeezing her hand at the anxious behavior she was trying to hide. " i can't exactly make all your problems disappear but it's always okay to sit back and tell me. "

lips pursing, she wraps her other arm around your torso and smiled. " it was just a rather disturbing dream i had i think, I don't exactly remember much, " she lies, " and i thought having your presence around me would ease me a bit. " humming, you ran your fingers through her silky blue locks, rem softens, heart fluttering at your small display of affection. " i'm glad i was able to somewhat help you. " you brushed her bangs to the side and kissed her pale forehead tenderly.

rem unexpectedly buries herself into your chest, using her all her weight to push your back onto the mattress, muttering sweet nothings into your neck. she felt like she was in heaven, the wonder feeling of your chest rumble because of your soft laugh and a steady heartbeat that she would have no problem falling asleep to.
