High school – Thirty-first Part
After I send Yuu to Genbu-senpai’s apartment, I receive a call from Genbu-senpai.
“Eh? Yes. I just left your room a while ago. Huh? The crosswalk? Understood. I’m heading there right away.”
It seems as soon as I picked up the phone, Yuu left the safety of the apartment. I rush to the intersection where I was told he should be.
Looks like Genbu-senpai already made his move. His voice from the phone sounded as though he were in a car. Apparently, the ring he gave Yuu is hooked to a GPS and can detect surrounding voices.
When I arrive at the intersection, Yuu is nowhere in sight.
I wait for further instructions for the time being. Standing at a berm, I receive a text. Moments later, a familiar looking car slides next to the sidewalk.
It belongs to Suzaku’s family.
Sitting inside is Genbu-senpai. But why are Houou-senpai and Seiryuu-senpai here?
“I’ve kept you waiting. Let’s go.”
Genbu-senpai flashes a wide smile. He’s fiddling with a tablet and it doesn’t look like he’ll be stopping anytime soon.
Suzaku prepared this car for us for emergencies and gave us permission to use it whenever we liked. How far in advance did these guys prepare?
It appears both Houou-senpai and Seiryuu-senpai were dragged from their club activities. For now, I decide to ask a question.
“What happened to Yuu, Genbu-senpai?”
Emboldened by my words, Houou-senpai also speaks.
“Yeah, Genbu. You brought me here all of a sudden with no explanation. So can you tell me what’s going on?”
Houou-senpai and Seiryuu-senpai look pretty irritated. Well, Seiryuu-senpai seems to be locked in contemplation, crossing his arms in silence.
With his eyes glued to the tablet screen, Genbu-senpai speaks.
“At this point, do you still need to be filled in? Yuu was kidnapped. After telling Yuu that Houou was injured and in a hospital, Hasumyouji waited for the perfect opportunity to strike. Right now, Yuu’s being held somewhere. Ah, mister driver, please make a right here and then go straight.”
It takes us a while to process Genbu-senpai’s words.
“…Hah? We need to help him!”
“Genbu you jerk, why do you look so unconcerned? We have to hurry!”
“That’s why we’re speeding ahead. Do you guys have your heads screwed on right? Mister driver, keep driving straight~!”
Although Genbu-senpai’s words seem to aggravate him, Houou-senpai somehow manages to calm down, shooting him a nasty glare.
“Genbu! What are those earphones for? Give me them!”
Apparently, we’re in this car to save Yuu. All this time, Genbu-senpai was tracking Yuu’s location from the GPS feature in his ring. If that’s the case, then those earphones…
“W-what the…”
I watch as Houou-senpai’s face turns a brilliant shade of red. Then it immediately grows blue. Seiryuu-senpai reaches for the earphones in a hurry. He also goes from red to blue.
What are they hearing? It’s like watching a litmus paper change color.
Once again, Houou-senpai glares at Genbu-senpai.
“…Genbu… this is…”
“Hm? It’s Yuu’s voice. Ah, mister driver please take a left here~.”
Genbu-senpai is calm and composed to the bitter end. Seiryuu-senpai frowns and mutters, his brow crinkling. “…However, it doesn’t seem like Yuu is… holding back or shy…”
“But isn’t he also drugged? This guy is really asking for it. When we get there, you guys better not think that’s Yuu’s true self,” I say, voice growing louder. “I won’t allow you guys to hurt him with your careless words. You too, Houou-senpai. It’s about time to settle with that snake. I’m irritated just by looking at you.”
“…” Houou-senpai bites his lip regretfully.
This person probably has a sweet spot for the conceited, narcissistic types. Hasumyouji-senpai also gave a good act as a junior in front of him.
And Yuu accepted him the way he is. That’s the impression I get, anyway. Whenever I’m near Yuu, I feel warm inside as if everything will be forgiven.
He protects me and is protected by me.
I wonder how Yuu’s current situation is. After we rescue him, how would Yuu react? Do I want him to laugh like before?
Feeling uneasy, I clutch my hands into fists.
Seeing me hang my head in shame, Genbu-senpai calls out to me.
“There, there Byakko. What are you going to do with all this pent up anxiety? You don’t have to worry since it’s Yuu we’re talking about. He won’t change. And I… won’t change my feelings for him.”
“Genbu-senpai…”
At the sound of these words, Seiryuu-senpai lets out a large sigh and smacks Houou-senpai’’s back.
“I see. This isn’t what we should be upset about now. Hiroto, you need to pull yourself together! What are you going to do about this situation?” Seiyuu-senpai’s eyes light up, sharp and fierce. “It’s obvious you’re the one who has the largest chunk of Yuu’s heart. I really don’t know how to put this in words. So what are you going to do?”
“…Yuu is mine.”
The temperature in the car drops several degrees.
“…Hey, can I kick the perpetrator once we’re there? This whole time I’ve been seriously thinking about saving Yuu. Now that we know who’s behind all this, everything will just fall in place, right? Ah, I’m getting hungry.”
Genbu-senpai’s eyes shine with an intense seriousness while Seiryuu-senpai still has his shut.
“Where does your confidence come from?” asks Seiryuu-senpai.
I sigh.
These three are slowly getting into a small battle. The student council president, the head of the public morals committee, and the judo club captain who just led his team to victory in the national championship.
What a huge pain.
I’m pretty much out of place here.
We wouldn’t all be here if it weren’t for Yuu. We all love you.
Like the rest, I also don’t intend to leave you.
Yuu… Did you really think you could live a peaceful life?
“…We’re here. Seventh floor… Room 705,” Genbu-senpai mutters.
As soon as the car stops, we rush outside and start sprinting towards the building.
“Yuu… we’ll save you soon
