Adhira Atwell, adopted at age two from her home country of India, felt like the whole world was against her. She felt disconnected from her culture, and outcasted in Hawkins. She felt.. entirely alone and invisible.
There was one person in the entire world who made her feel seen. Her best friend, and favorite person, in the whole world. Robin Buckley.
Robin meant more than anything to Adhira, she was the only one who understood her. Who never judged her. Who made her feel like anything was possible.
She spent all her possible time with Robin, she made her feel on top of the world, and over the years, somewhere along the line, she had fallen in love with her.
Adhira kept these feelings to herself, overcome with shame. She tried her best to ignore the thoughts that flooded her mind whenever she was near Robin. How she smelled, the sweet scent overwhelming Adhira's senses. How she looked, especially in the morning when she was still half asleep and confused.
Until one breezy evening, Adhira couldn't take it anymore. She kissed Robin... and Robin didn't kiss her back.
Overcome with regret and fear that Robin now hated her, she cut all contact to prevent the pain of Robin doing the same.
That was the summer before sophomore year. She hadn't spoken to her since, and she never wanted to.
Unfortunately, life had other plans for her, and she ended up with Robin being her co-worker the summer before senior year.
