MOTHER ONLY KNOWS...POWER { 1st - Mother Knows series - ORIGINAL}

FIRST DAY

The next morning, Rain gets ready for school earlier than usual. She may claim to hate it over in Auderon but they do have a library and good food so she couldn't really complain too much. She steps out of her dorm and heads down to her locker and as she passes Evie and Mal's dorm, she can hear Mal's snoring and Evie's quiet humming as she starts on her makeup.

Just as she reaches her locker and goes to open it, she's stopped by a voice behind her "Hey, Rain!" she spins around, only to be greeted by the crown-prince.

"Hi," she looks at him suspiciously.

"You're here early," he notes

"Um yeah I thought I'd find my locker and check out the library before lessons," Ben looks shocked, but quickly covers it with a smile.

"Do you want me to show you where it is?" No... but I don't want to get lost.

"Ok, thanks," Ben nods and leads Rain through hallway upon hallway.

"So, um you like reading?" Rain closes her eyes in a 'please god no' way, she was not one for small talk.

"Yeah, among other things, we don't really have books back home," he looks confused "I mean we do, it's just that they are destroyed and go from page 5 to 30 in one flip,"

"Oh," Ben sounds a bit sad and Rain is quick to try and lighten the mood

"Yeah, Romeo and Juliet was a wild ride,"

Ben laughs and leads her to two golden arched doors "here we are," He opens the door, and Rain walks in.

"Wow..." Rain stands in awe. There are bookcases covering every space, so Rain turns in a full circle trying to take it all in, I catch him staring at me on my final turn "any recommendations?" he looks around nervously "don't tell me the son of Belle doesn't read?" Ben laughs "I'm shocked, I feel personally attacked,"

"I like reading! I just don't have time lately..." Rain raises her eyebrow and tries to cover a real smile with a smirk, but fails.

"I don't quite believe you. But okay,"

"Ooooh Bennyboo!" Audrey enters and gives Rain a look of disgust that doesn't go missed, followed by a fake smile. "Oh, Rain! didn't think I'd find you in a library," she loops her arm with Ben's and he looks uncomfortable yet again, closing his eyes as if to calm himself. Does he not like touch? Or maybe he just doesn't like PDA...

"Well, don't judge a book by its cover," Rain raises her right hand and does a finger gun. Ben smiles slightly at her behaviour and terrible pun.

"Come on Benny, we have class," Audrey drags him away out the doors

"Bye Rain!" Ben waves and looks at her as long as he can. Rain waves back and lets out a small smile as she can hear Audrey start talking again.

"If someone hands you a crying baby, do you, A, curse it? B, lock it in a tower? C, give it a bottle? Or D, carve out its heart?" Evie raises her hand to fairy Godmother's question "Evie."  Rain looks up from 'Magic - the forces of good and evil', and turns around to find Mal drawing the wand and not paying attention whilst the others just look lost.

"What was the second one?" Evie asks innocently.

Rain smirks slightly.

"Oh, okay. Anyone else?" Fairy Godmother looks lost and Rain laughs loudly "Rain?"

Rain quickly reads through the options "C, give it a bottle."

"Correct. Again." Rain opens her book again, sighing slightly. The only reason she's getting them right is because she's the only one who answers. Rain wondered if Fairy Godmother only ever picked on her or occasionally Mal because she saw them as the 'evillest'. It's a current debate on the isle. Who's worse. Maleficent or Mother Gothel? One can turn into a dragon and sent an entire Kingdom to sleep, the other stole a child and raised it as her own, manipulating her and using her hair to keep her young, then killed her boyfriend.
