I feel Juliette slightly stirring against me before it wakes me up.My eyes are still closed as I have no idea what time it even is. Ican hear the birds chirping outside so I'm guessing that it's morningtime and for once, I don't even care about the noise that they'remaking. I am too happy to care. I feel a slight tickling sensationcreeping up the center of my chest and I have no idea what it is.Hopefully, it's not a giant spider staring me in my face when I wakeup. I slowly open my eyes and I'm greeted by her warm smile, sapphireeyes and soft touch as she's running her fingers up my chest. If Iwere standing, I probably would be on my knees and very weak rightnow.
"Good morning." She whispers.
"Good morning." I whisper back.
"Last night was amazing, I've never felt so happy."
"I agree, I want every night to be as amazing as that."
"Me too."
A thought hits me and I'm dragged out of the happiness by the suddenrealisation that I didn't go back to camp last night. I have no ideahow father will react but it's not going to be good either way.
"What is it?" Juliette says to me, expressing her concern afterthe change in my facial expression upon my thoughts.
"I have to go back to camp now, or he'll be angry. Which he willmost likely be anyway but I must get back. As much as I don't wantto, as much as I wish I could spend the rest of my life in this spotwith you."
"I understand." Juliette says with a frown. We both get up out ofthe sleeping roll and piece together our clothing before coming outof her tent. Upon emerging out of her tent, I spot her mother andimmediately feel rather awkward because she definitely knows whathappened.
"Morning, Jack!" Katherine says to me as I'm barely out of thetent, "I hope you slept well." she accompanies the last bit witha wink, knowing full well what happened. I go shy and probably brightred before replying "Morning ma'am – I mean Katherine." Istumble over my words like a fool but she just laughs.
"Staying for breakfast?" Katherine asks.
"As much as I would love to, I should really get going. My old manis probably wondering where I am."
"Not a problem, safe journey and I'm sure that I will see you againsoon." She states with a warm smile.
"Thank you, I'm sure you will. Thank you for dinner too, it wasunbelievable!"
"Thank you, I appreciate that." She replies with a small chuckle.
Myself and Juliette begin to walk out of the camp and back to ourusual meeting spot so that I know my way back. We take a slow walk, hand in hand and take in everything from the last 24 hours. We bothget lost in our thoughts as not a word is exchanged and I lose trackof what direction we're heading in and how long for. I'm just relyingon Juliette to lead me which she already is so it doesn't matter toomuch. We arrive at our usual meeting spot with both of us reluctantto let go. We come together and rest our heads against each otherbefore I plant a kiss on her forehead.
"I guess this is goodbye." She says with an ever-growing frown.
"Not for long, I'll see you again before you know it." Ireassure.
"When will I see you again?"
"Well I only have to go back to show him that I'm still alive... Ican come back after that."
"How about midday then?"
"Sounds good to me, I'll meet you here – as always."
We exchange a kiss on the lips before breaking apart and I departback to camp. I feel her eyes on me as I walk away and I begin torealise something. I am dying for a piss, I never got to go as per myusual routine and I didn't really think about it until now that I amalone. I wait until I am out of sight from Juliette and I check overmy shoulder to make sure before I begin pissing on a nearby tree. From then on, I wander back to camp with an expectancy to get shoutedit and maybe hit but who knows. I've got to face him at some point.
