(Note, some events and characters were not in my dream, but were added to...well...add to the story. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy!)
This game...this damn game has taken so much from me...
Sword Art Online. This game had more hype than Smash Bros Ultimate, but for many reasons. The most well known is because it is the first and only game on the new "Virtual Reality" counsle called Nerve Gear.
"Whats so special about Nerve Gear?" You may ask. Well, unlike the VR headset we know today, this actually puts you in the game. I mean, your body is still in the real world. Lemme explain.
The Nerve Gear taps into...well...your nervous system. It sort of shuts down your motor functions in a way. Obviously your still alive and what not, but you cant move or feel anything from the real world. Your mind is put into the game. You can feel, see, and smell everything in the game itself, without feeling pain of course.
The game itself, Sword Art Online, was made specifiy for the Nerve Gear. What really caught my attention was that this game was fantasy based! A lot of games that are popular nowadays are more realistic, shooter games, which I'm not a huge fan of but play them anyway since my boyfriend likes them. I, however, am obsessed with anything fantasy, hence why I jumped at the chance to get this game and the Nerve Gear.
I'll admit, it was expensive. Especially since both Ty and I got one so we could play together. Needless to say I was so excited that I told all of my friends, including my online ones. But I knew my online friends wouldnt really be able to afford it so I didnt try to push them. What really excited me though, was when I heard my best friend E got one as well as her boyfriend and his friends. Then Ty told me that all of his friends got one too. I was stoked! I'd get to play with so many people I cared about!
We had preordered it and it was going to be shipped to us. First the beta testers had to make sure everything was in working order, and from the looks of it, things were going smoothly. The creator even let some of the beta testers stream it to get more people to buy the game.
It took 6 months after we preordered it for it to finally be shipped to us. I heard that in Japan, where the game was made, there was this huge line of people who were trying to buy the game. Needless to say, I'm happy I had it preordered.
Ty I got our Nerve Gear set up and ready before we texted our friends to meet us in the first area we get to. However, before we could log in, the Nerve Gear was asking us for measurements and scanned us and whatnot. We kind of shrugged it off and logged in afterwards.
That's when the fun began. I got to create my character/avatar and make her look, well gorgeous. I, by no means, liked my appearance, so i was excited to be a better version of myself.
Once I was done with my character, I met up with Ty who was waiting for me. We decided to go stock up on equipment really quick before the others got on, so we went and, well, got our equipment. Ty grabbed a bow and arrows along with a short sword. I on the other hand got a long sword. Sadly there was no magic to my knowledge, but I wasnt too butthurt.
We got back to what we assumed was town square and saw the rest of our friends. Obviously E, her boyfriend, and his friends didnt know any of Ty's friends, so there was some introductions, but we were excited.
As we walked to bring the others to get their own equipment, we talked about on the later floors, creating a guild with all of us. There was some obvious diliberations as to whom was going to be guild leader when the time came. We shortened the list down to two possible people, Ty and his best friend P.
P, however, made the decision that Ty should be the guild leader, since in our Minecraft Realm, he was the town "mayor" and the creator of the realm in the first place. Ty was happy about the decision, so he celebrated quietly while everyone got their stuff.
Once everyone was equipped, Ty suggested that we go grind out sone levels and learn how this game worked a bit more, so we made pur way out of town to where this field of wild boar were.
It took a little getting used to, but it seemed that everyone was getting the hang of it, even E seemed to enjoy this despite not playing many video games before this.
It was about 5 or 6 p.m. when we all decided to get off. We got a couple levels and some decent loot, so we felt like this was a good place to stop. However, thats when we realized that none of us knew how to log out. Ws searched the menu, basically memorizing it just trying to find how to long out. We started to panic slightly when none of us could find the log out button.
Our thoughts were disrupted when we were suddenly teleported. We looked around to find ourselves back in town square...along with what looked like every other player in the game. Before any of us could speak, we heard a scream and people looking into the sky, leading us to look up as well. The sky seemed to bleed from the looks of it, however, that "blood" soon formed into the shape of a hooded figure...who introduced himself as the creator of the game, Akihiko Kayaba.
(In case you havent read the discription, this book is based off of a dream of mine. A lot of the names are shortened for security reasons since they are real people. The only name that will be full is mine since I don't hide my first name. Anyway, I hope you enjoy and thanks for reading!)
