The raincoat sat in the box, buried under short skirts and cocktail dresses and it felt so alone in the desolate compartment. It had been so many years since the coat had seen the glorious gloom of rain. It fluttered with excitement whenever it heard even the slightest whisper of rain, but shriveled in disappointment soon afterward as the word was always followed up with phrases like, "not in the forecast" and "hasn't been seen for years." As these thoughts crossed the raincoat's mind, it was suddenly jostled to the side, bringing the assortment of clothes crashing down on it. Although it was annoyed to begin with, it started to hope. Maybe his wearer would employ his services once again? That hope was immediately distinguished when he heard voices shouting, "pick up the box and don't knock it over again!" The box was set upright again with his wearer's groans, and he thought that was the end of it, but his collars crinkled in confusion when the box kept on moving. He felt a jostle, then a thud then a--the box came flying open and he tumbled onto the ground. Bearing his surroundings, his colors seemed to brighten as his wearer's face loomed over him. His excitement peaked when his wearer picked him up, but the excitement disappeared as suddenly as it had arrived when he was tossed into a pile of misfit clothes. His gaze wandered longingly over to the other pile of clothes. As he glanced on, his reminiscing was cut short by a rough hand stuffing him back into a box. Not wanting to stay awake for what he assumed would be a long and perilous journey, he folded himself into what would be the human equivalent of closing his eyes. When he finally felt the cease of movement, he opened his eyes. He suppressed a gasp. The room he was in was flawless, all pink and sparkly. The gasp that came out of his mouth when he saw his new wearer, he was not able to clamp down. Almost jumping, he slipped onto his hew one's body, and together, they trudged out into the rain, starting a new reign of rain.
