Chapter Eighteen: Should I go? Can I go?

“BROCK! HELP ME PLEASE!”

I look around furiously. Where is she? What is going on? Please don’t let anything happen to her. I look around the forest desperately, her voice echoing around the clearing.

“CASSANDRA, BABY WHERE ARE YOU?” I scream frantically pulling at my hair and looking around everywhere.

I hear panicked sobs and cries which are overlapped by the crackling laughter of a male. Not just any male. I know that laugh! I would recognise the sadist tone from miles away. TRENT! That fucking bastard, I am going to kill him when I get my hands on him. I’m coming baby, I won’t let him hurt you.

The forest is endless, every tree looks the same, and my senses are cut off, except my super hearing. I can’t smell the delectable scent of my precious mate. I can’t find her! He is hurting her, because of me.

I am weak. I am nothing. I can’t even protect my own mate.

“BROCK!”

I flinch at her pained scream and search harder. Where is she? I get closer and closer to her but, it’s like she is an eternity away. The sharp aching in my heart slows me down, the pain of knowing my mate is in trouble.

There is no grater way to harm an Alpha than to go after his mate. His other half. His soul. His reason to live. A wolf is left a shadow of themselves without their mate. Piece by piece they start to fade away until they become so insane that, the pack mates will terminate them and, end their never ending suffering.

If anything ever happened to Cassandra and she was no longer on the earth, I would die. Literally. As my last order as Alpha I would demand that my pack kill me. I do not want to suffer the endless, never ending heartache of losing my soul mate.

I hear a squeal so pain filled and loud that it could wake the dead. I use my wolf speed and run towards it. The rusty smell of blood, overtakes my senses and I know that she has been hurt.

Pushing trees out of my way, sending them flying hundreds of metres away, kicking logs, barging through bushes, ignoring the pain present in my body. I enter the big clearing and stop dead at the sight before me.

“Hello brother.” Trent teases as he shoves a dagger coated in Cassandra’s blood into her stomach.
