THIRD PERSON

At exactly four, Isa appeared in front of  Daniel.

"Oh, hey." Daniel smiled. He immediately noticed the picnic basket Isa was holding.

"What's in there?" Daniel asked, pointing at the picnic basket. Isa rolled her eyes at his question, since she found it ridiculous, but still answered.

"Your virginity. What do you think is in here? It's obviously food." Isa replied with very noticeable annoyance in her tone.

"Ouch, okay. I was just asking, no need to be salty." Daniel said. It was evident that at first he was taken aback by her response, and honestly it hurt him, but he realised that something must've happened for her to react that way.

Isa groaned and sat down on the bench Daniel was sat on, placing the basket in between them. "Are you alright?" Daniel asked.

Isa sighed and looked at him. "Honestly, no. But I can't do anything about it so I'll fake smile my way through life and crumble into pieces when I'm alone."

Daniel immediately felt empathy in his heart for her. He didn't like that she was feeling this way and was determined to make it better.

"Do you want to talk about it?" He asked her. He saw her eyes light up at the mention of a coping mechanism but still her face read differently.

"No. Not right now at least." Isa mumbled, thinking Daniel couldn't hear her. Little did she know, he had heard every word clearly.

The way she was upset brought a frown upon Daniel's face. Then an idea popped into his mind.

"Come with me." Daniel said, extending his hand out to her. She hesitantly accepted it.

Daniel lead them to bridge just above a pond full of ducks and other precious creatures. The fresh smell of the healthy trees and the clear blue water made the scene much more enjoyable for the both of them.

Daniel watched as Isa leaned against the bridge, taking in her surroundings. Daniel thought the sight was absolutely extravagant, watching a beautiful girl appreciate nature.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" Isa asked. Daniel was at a loss for words. He couldn't tell her why he actually was staring.

"No reason." He shrugged.

Isa felt just the slightest bit uncomfortable afterwards but you couldn't tell. She was still happy and in a peaceful mindset.

"We need to go back and eat." Isa said to Daniel. Daniel was aware of the sadness increasing in her voice and he knew it was partially from what happened prior to this.

Isa had mentally made this her new happy place and which was also a reason why she felt sad.

"Let's talk now." Daniel said as he started walking back towards their spot. "About what?" Isa asked, afraid of what she knew the answer was going to be. "You know what." He said.

Isa sighed, not completely sure why she was about to open up to someone who she barely knew, but at the same time, her emotions made her feel like she had known him forever.

"Well..."
~~~
"Thank you," Isa smiled. "this was definitely enjoyable."
"It was my pleasure." Daniel smiled back.
As Isa gathered her things, making her way to leave, she heard Daniel mumble something.
"What?" She asked, not hearing him correctly.
"Wouldyouliketogoonadatewithme?" Daniel said once again, but faster and at a barely audio volume.
"Daniel." Isa sighed. She looked up at him, and he sighed like she had.
"These past two weeks with you has been fun, and I know we don't know each other that well yet, but would you like to go on a date with me?" Daniel asked.
He was indeed afraid of getting rejected but just because it was something he was used to, doesn't mean it's hurt any less.
"Yes."
"What?" Daniel asked for confirmation, afraid he might've heard wrong.
"I said yes, I'll go on a date with you." Isa smiled. Daniel looked at her with unbelief, he didn't expect her to say yes.
Without realising, Isa had wrapped her arms around Daniel, leaving him shocked. But he soon wrapped his arms around her.
"See you next week." Isa said, before kissing his cheek and walking to her car.
Daniel couldn't stop the smile that was growing on his face.
