June 15th, today was officially the first day of summer. I was really not looking forward to this summer. It would be my last summer as a single young woman and I wasn't so sure I wanted to be married yet. All the suitors that my parents have brought by are not only cocky but they were very rude. Although they have only brought three I am so dreading the rest of what this summer has to bring. You would think that by 2014 guys would be more nice an like you for who you are rather than royalty but I guess some things never change.
My mom has been receiving calls from other mothers that feel like the son they have would be perfect for me but I beg to differ. I wish my parents would let me choose who I want to be with and when. Like, why do I have only have until the end of summer to find someone to be with the rest of my life? What if I never find anyone and I end up being stuck with some douche bag that sleeps with the maids behind my back? Or worse, what if I end up with a guy that plans to kill me just so he can marry some girl he was in love with all his life?
There are so many ways on how this can work out that its been causing me to stress out. Sadly, when I stress out I tend to eat. Not something I thought would ever happen to me but it has and I have earned the consequences that came with it but I have also learned to love and accept me for me. I don't care that people talk and whisper about me behind my back at social gatherings or our summer ball. I just keep my head up high and smile at anyone that does.
"Miss Lily, your parents have requested you in the dining room"
"Oh my gosh, Henry you scared me! I didn't hear you come in. Thank you, I'll be there in a minute"
Henry then nods and walks out of my room, shutting the door on his way out. I finish getting ready putting on my favorite summer dress that I bought online, it had spaghetti straps with lots of beautiful flowers on it. Shopping online was my most favorite thing to do. I decided to put my hair up in a messy bun and walked down to the dinning area to have lunch with my parents. It was tradition that we have lunch together no matter what we had going on and believe it or not it was my favorite thing to do in the summer.
Yeah, my parents are a royal pain in the butt at times but spending this time together was something I looked forward too. I started to feel nervous as i got closer and closer to the dinning hall because there was something I wanted to discuss with my parents, and I knew that it wasn't going to go as I hope it was. There a bit hard to negotiate with but hopefully they would be in a good mood. When they're in a good mood it is very easy for me to win them over.
I reached to doors to the dinning area and took a deep breath before I walked in with a big smile on my face. As I opened the doors my smile suddenly disappeared and everyone in the room were all staring at me. I felt my face turn bright red and I was frozen in place. Not only was my parents here but Some guy with his parents, I'm assuming, were all sitting at a table just staring at me.
Finally my mom spoke up, "Lily, this is Vaughn and his parents Daniel and Charlotte."
I smiled and slowly walked over to sit next to the open seat by my dad. I felt so embarrassed, I was not expecting anybody besides my parents to be here. Going to talk with them might be harder than I thought. Our maids then brought out our lunch; home made chicken gnocchi soup and salad. It was one of my favorite things to eat ever since one of my distant cousins brought me some a couple years ago and since it is my favorite our maids know its something that will ease me from my stress an anxiety.
Whenever my parents would have a suitor over for me to visit with I always had a rush of anxiety and I haven't learned how to control it that well but for some reason food always helped.
"You have a beautiful daughter, your highness."
"Please Charlotte, call me David. Thank you, she is my most greatest accomplishment." He smiled at me and I smiled back then taking a bite of my salad.
"So Lily, do you have any plans for the summer? Maybe you and Vaughn could hang out or go out to dinner?" Charlotte asked.
"Mom please, I can speak for myself. I'm so sorry for that, she doesn't usually act like this. I guess it's the nerves getting to her. She's been like this all morning."
"No, it's not a problem Vaughn. I know how it feels to be in her positions. All of us mothers do it." my mom said.
When I finally looked over to Vaughn I couldn't help but stare at him. He was the most handsome man I have ever seen in my life. His hair was really short on the sides and the top of his hair was about 3 inches long that he gelled up slightly to the side. He had dimples that really popped out when he smiled. He looked so perfect, where did my parents find him?
When I realized I was looking at him too long I quickly looked away and started to eat my soup. Maybe I should hold off talking with my parents. Maybe I'll actually like this guy.
