Kitten

Crowley sighed as he walked around the apartment. It was nice, seeing some of Aziraphale's stuff mixed in with his own, giving bright beacons of light to the normally dark home. He picked up his water-mister, preparing to take care of his plants as he waited for the angel to get home but, as he did so, a very quiet soft meow caught his ear.

There was a kitten curled in the pot beside the tree, meowing as he nibbled at the leaves.

Crowley set the bottle down, approaching and scooping up the small animal. He held it up so golden eyes could look into golden eyes. "What are you?"

The kitten meowed loudly, snuggling into Crowley's hands.

The demon wasn't sure what to do. The fur of the animal was surely getting all over his clothes but...he couldn't find it in his heart (which Aziraphale kept insisting he had) to put it down or even, devil forbid, throw it out onto the streets.

The cat licked at Crowley's cheek, starting to purr.

Okay, rough tongue. Definitely not what Crowley was expecting. He found one of his hands moving to cradle the animal and the other to slowly run down its back.

The purring of the cat increased.

Crowley walked into the main room, still cradling the animal. Lion, he thought. It looked kind of like one. If lions were tiny and had fur the color of Aziraphale's wings.

The cat continued to purr as Aziraphale opened the door.

Crowley was visible down the hall, his back to the angel but seemingly holding something he was quite interested in when he heard the door open.

"Hello, darling. What have you got there?"

Crowley turned at the angel's voice. "A lion," he said simply, though clearly, the animal cradled in one of the demon's hands was not a lion.

"A lion?" Aziraphale gasped, seeing it before starting to chuckle.

Crowley tilted his head a bit. Why was he being laughed at?

"Darling...that's a cat."

"A cat," Crowley repeated, one hand gently rubbing the cat's head.

"Yes. Domesticated."

"I still don't know why it's here."

"It must have gotten lost, poor thing."

"What do we do with it?"

"Take care of it or send it to a shelter."

"We're not sending it away," Crowley said with finality.

"Then we get supplies for him.

Crowley nodded. He seemed determined.

"Let's get him some supplies and a collar from the store."

"Alright," Crowley said, seemingly also reluctant to let go of the cat.

"Come on. Let's get going."

"Do we bring him with us?"

"Yes," Aziraphale said, miracling up a leash and harness.

Crowley stroked the cat's fur, feeling the animal go limp in his hands as the harness was put on him.

"It's okay," Aziraphale cooed, gently taking his lover's hand.

For once, it seemed the demon was the more worried and nervous of the two of them.

"It's alright...let's go," Aziraphale smiled and gently kissed Crowley's hand.

"Alright..."

Aziraphale led Crowley to a nearby pet shop, smiling as they glanced around at everything. "Go and pick out some food and treats," the angel said, gently taking the cat from Crowley. "I'll see about some vaccinations and getting him fixed."
