"Oh, no! The tofurkey!" Darla says while running to the kitchen. "Oh, no, we might have to eat a real turkey!" Victor says as he also runs into the kitchen.

I see a bunch of smoke from the kitchen and I'm kind of feeling concerned. "Is that-?" "It's okay. Come, I'll show you your room." Rosa says interrupting my question, ignoring the smoke. "It's a bit of a madhouse, I know but, it's fun!"

"Watch the bumps there."  As we walk upstairs a boy who seems bigger than me walks by wearing earbuds, with an emotionless look on his face. Damn, he seems scary. "Pedro, mi amor, hola. Say hi to (Y/n)." Pedro nods at me.

"Don't take it personally. He's like that with everyone. So you're gonna be roomies with Freddy because Mary and Darla are already sharing a room and he's the only one who doesn't have any one else. He's also your age so I hope that's okay." She says. "That's okay." I say as we walk to Freddy's room.

She opens the door and I see a boy about my age with curly hair, reading a comic. "Freddy. This is (Y/n) Batson. Make sure you make her feel at home okay? Maybe don't say anything too weird?" She pleads.

"One weird thing is you know the Romans used to brush their teeth with their urine? Apparently, it-it works." Oh god, I hope he doesn't plan on doing that. Rosa leaves us to get us to know each other better.

I look outside of the window. Holy crap we're high. "Yeah, um... Oh, it's, uh... It's a long way down. Trust me, I speak from experience." He says as he takes out some kind of crutch.

"Victor pushed me." I know Rosa said that this is a madhouse but I didn't realize it would me that mad.

"They seem nice, but don't buy it. It gets real Game of Thrones around here." He says as his voice gets more serious as he said those sentences. "What?" I ask with concern and a little bit of fear in my voice as I stare at his crutch worriedly.

"Dude, I'm...just messin' around. It's um, it's terminal cancer, I...I have three months." He looks down. "Kidding, again! You look at me and you're, like, 'Why so dark?' 'You're a disabled foster kid, you've got it all.' Right?"

I start to feel nervous around him so I look to my left and I see a batarang. "Oh, yeah, that's the, uh, the old batarang. I mean it's a replica, but... Feel how sharp. Could kill you in your sleep with that thing. Holy shit is this boy gonna kill me?

We both look at each other "You ever a Supes girl?" "Yeah, me too." He says as he takes me to a desk drawer. He opens it and there was a bullet in a little plastic bag.

"Behold, the holy grail. One nine millimeter round shot at Superman himself. It's legit. Probably worth, I dunno $5-600, maybe more. What's in the bag?" He asks as he attempts to grab it. What the hell man? Why do you wanna go through my stuff?

"Hey." I say with the slightest bit of anger and annoyance in my voice. "Hey, it's all good. It's good to maintain boundaries." Of course it is but like.....I'm a girl and you wanted to go through my stuff so........

"You don't gotta talk so much, you know. I mean this place is great. You're gonna love it." He says. "Dinner!" Rosa yells. As we go downstairs, I try and go at Freedy's pace just so he won't fall or have a bad accident.

"All hands on deck!" Victor says. "Sweet" Freddy excitedly says. Does that mean we can eat? Cause I am one hungry bitch. Everyone then piles their hands. Well everyone besides me. I just sit there awkwardly.

"Thank you for this family. Thank you for this day. Thank you for this food. Even if it's not steak fillet." Once they were done praying we got food. Then we hit the hay.

I went to the bathroom, take out my note pad with crossed out Batsons that could've possibly been my mother and threw it in the trash. Then I changed into pajamas.

As I enter Freddy's and my room, I see him sleeping on the top bunk. This boy has one working leg. How the hell can he climb the ladder?

I get on the bed and I just daydream until I can sleep. Okay things to get used to: 1. Mary constantly being interviewed. 2. Pedro making me feel scared. 3. Freddy and his possibly dark humor hopefully not wanting to kill me in my sleep. 4. Eugene playing video games and yelling 24/7. 5. Darla's rib-crushing hugs.

Okay this seems easy. Now let's pray that Freddy won't kill me as I'm sleeping and get to bed. God I'm being paranoid maybe he was kidding. Right?

Time Skip to the next day aka your first day of school 😒

As we were walking to school, Darla was talking up a storm. "Big school, 2,000 students, you might think 'Wow, so many strangers." But not if you think of them as possible for each friend then, 'Oh, so many friends.' "

I've honestly been daydreaming during most of her talking. Not in a rude way. Sometimes when people talk, I just zone out for no reason. "The principal, her name's Shirley. She's the best. Next." We enter the school with a security along with a security scanner.

"This is our security scanner. Like in an airport. It's totally safe." "I know what it is." I chuckle. "Does she always do this?" I ask. "Silence makes me uncomfortable." Darla says. "She's almost never uncomfortable." Eugene says in a mocking tone.

The bell rings to go to class. I hear little footsteps coming closer. I could already tell who it is. Darla. She gives me yet another hug and says "Have a good first day, big sister." Then I told her something I immediately regretted.
