Jack
That's all that was written up there. Well, also his last name, but that's not what matters. Jack's name was written on the board for a reason
See Mr. N during study hall today please.
"Why is it always me?" Jack asked Leilani. "I mean, you day dream in class too, but Mr. N never calls you to come see him."
"Jack" Leilani said, sympatheticaly. "I don't know, but all that I do know, is that Mr. N just wants to see you succeed because he knows that you can."
I know that you can. Leilani thought to herself. She didn't want Jack to hear that, because she was too afraid that it would hint something. Something that had only recently started.
Mr. N was an old man, yet, he had a son that was a sophomore in high school. His hair was white and barely covered his head, his skin was slightly wrinkled from head to toe, and he wore those stereotypical old man glass all of the time. But the worst part was what came off of him. Nobody knew why, but Mr. N seemed to sweat uncontrollably, he had the biggest pit stains in the world, and his BO was the MOST horrifying thing in the world. Now everybody understood why his son was how he is.
"Ah, Mr. Jack." Mr. N said in his goofy sort of way. He was a sort of goofy guy, joked around a lot, and rarely took anything seriously. "How you been boy?" He asked as he stood up from his desk, reaching his hand out for a friendly greeting. "Well, it's only been a few hours since our class, but still, how was the rest of your day?"
"Um, ok I guess..." Jack replied awkwardly.
"Great. Moving on. You're grade Jack. We're in October and it's a B-. I don't get it, what is so important in your mind that you can't focus on math?"
Well, there are two simple explanations to this Mr. N, but only one is worth sharing, maybe not even. Jack thought to himself. The first one is very obvious. All-State Choir. I mean, come on. My name was posted on the board as you walk in, don't even read that? The second reason might be something to do with a boy named Greg you big dumb idiot. Jack was getting angry inside of his head, but he didn't show it outside.
"Well, Mr. N. You know how I made Middle School All-State Choir? It's been very hard to keep up with that and I thought maybe that it would be easy to be able to make up my grade once it was over, but I guess it won't." Jack replied in a kind manner.
Or maybe it's just that I hate you and your class and I'm too smart to be here, and if you just noticed my skills, then maybe I would be in class with Greg in the advanced math which I should be in. Jack's anger was growing stronger inside. He thought that he might lash out at Mr. N.
"Oh, well then. That was a simple explanation. I thought that it might be some sort of crush or something." Mr. N said, not meaning it in the way that Jack interpreted it.
Oh god, does he know about my love for Greg? Jack started to question nervously.
"I mean, you and Leilani both seem to like each other a lot. Maybe you should date just to get all of those feelings out. Then they won't be as much of a distraction to you both." Mr. N said, finally explaining what he meant.
Oh thank god he didn't...WAIT WHAT?! Leilani has a noticeable crush on me? Jack was so confused inside. He thought that they were only close friends. But now it had started to make sense to Jack why she had been so clingy since school started this year. She would always talk to him whenever she could, she always sat next to him at lunch, they were always texting. It all made sense now.
Should I tell her that I'm gay and that Greg and I have kissed? Maybe I should tell her that I'm bisexual so that her heart isn't completely broken. But what if it does break her heart? I don't want to lose that friendship. It's had such a great impact on me. Why? All of these thoughts just flooded Jack's mind as Mr. N just kept on blabbering on about grades and blah blah blah and blah blah blah. He didn't know, everything just kind of blurred together. It made him dizzy too. He thought that he might pass out.
