"The police are still searching for the mysterious assailant who stabbed two college students earlier this week. They have checked in multiple times with their boyfriends, but the same story comes through. Neither of them saw who it was.

"The one student who was stabbed in the arm has not said who it was, for she is unsure if her claim is accurate. The other has been slipping in and out of a coma the past three days, and has not had a chance to say anything."

Toothless stared bluntly at the TV screen in the hospital room.

The same story had been playing over and over again on the news, and it was beginning to tick him off.

He involuntarily touched Paintsplash's arm, as if to comfort her dead-to-the-world form. Her breathing was slow, shallow, raspy. Her bleeding had not stopped, and her skin was pale. Her blood would not clot, and the doctors were trying to figure out why.

Toothless sighed. Across the room, Diamondspirit sat with Echogreen as she sat, staring with dull green eyes at the ground. Diamondspirit shot his older brother a sad glance, and grabbed the remote, shutting off the TV.

Paintsplash shifted under her covers, and Toothless glanced at her. She turned over, but stopped moving after that, having slipped deeper into the coma's deathly clutches. Toothless stood up silently, and his brother followed suit. They quiet out and quickly left the room, shutting the door behind them.

Echogreen looked across at the neighboring bed. Thor, Odin, please, PLEASE help her. She needs it more than I.

A nurse entered the room and changed Paintsplash's bandages before turning on the radio, lowering the volume so Echogreen could rest. A song began playing, and the nurse left.

"Too young,

"Too old,

"Too shy,

"Too bold,

"Too average

"To make a difference..."

Echogreen sighed and laid against the pillow, closing her eyes to the whitewashed room. Within a few minutes, she had fallen asleep.

Paintsplash stirred slightly, her eyes wandering under the lids. Sighing groggily, she rolled over. One eye cracked open, then the other, and she stared at the ceiling lethargically. One of the songs she recognized was playing on the radio next to her.

"I've been living in thus house here

"Since the day that I was born.

"These walls have seen me happy,

"But most of all they've seen me torn.

"They've heard the screamoing matches,

"That made a family fall apart.

"They've had a front row seat to the breaking of my heart..."

Paintsplash blinked. She loved this song, but, it always broke her heart. She rolled over and tried to sleep.

She drifted off, but comas would no longer take control of her.
