Andrea's POV
I woke up abruptly.
Whoa, how long have I been asleep for?
I don't remember falling asleep, all I remember is talking to Mrs. Lockport, 5th period ending, and now here I am. I glanced up at the clock on the wall.
That's strange..
The clock seemed to be blurred out so I rubbed my eyes. That's when I noticed I was still in the detention room that was now dimly lit from the light shining through the windows. I let my eyes adjust to the rest of the darkness that surrounded me as I looked around. I was amazed that Mrs. Lockport didn't wake me up and that everyone had literally just left me there considering I missed detention.
What is going on?
I pulled my phone from out of my back pocket and checked to see if I had any unread messages from my mom wondering where I was.
Nothing? Shit, I'm surprised my mom isn't blowing me up telling me to get home by now.
It certainly was unusual that I didn't have any messages from anyone and that I seemed like the only person still alive. Without anymore thought, I stood up, rubbed my eyes, slung my backpack over my left shoulder and made my way out of the room and down the hallway. As I was walking, there was an eerie feeling creeping down my neck that something wasn't right. Regardless, I made my way towards the front entrance of the school. None of the lights were on in any of the rooms or down the hallways until I rounded the corner to the english wing. I stopped dead in my tracks.
Dude, I don't like this one bit... I'm starting to get creeped out..
I was only talking to myself, but now there was another person to add into the mixture. I wasn't sure what to expect as I warily made my way towards the light. Everything seemed familiar, yet the classrooms looked differently as I passed them. I didn't know what was next to come as the light approached closer. Hesitantly, I looked inside and to my surprise I found Ms. Kaplan at her desk engaged in paperwork.
"Oh, hey. I wasn't expecting to see anyone else, I'm sorry I missed detention. I thought someone would've woken me up at the end of the day, but clearly here I am."
She was just as shocked to see me as I was her because when I spoke she jumped a little in her seat.
"Andrea! Oh my goodness you just scared me. I wasn't expecting anyone to be here so late. What are you talking about? You didn't have detention..."
I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Wha... what? You gave me detention because I was being disrespectful."
Am I going crazy?
We were quiet for a moment while looking at each other confused.
"I don't know. Never mind, I guess I must be going crazy or something. Could I trouble you for a ride home possibly? My mom forgot to pick me up and she's probably in bed already."
"Sure, come in and take a seat. I just need to finish up grading these papers."
It was strange how everything was playing out, the classrooms were different, Ms. Kaplan grading papers when it was only the first day, something was definitely wrong. I just couldn't put my finger on it even though it was right on the tip of my tongue. I decided not to stress over it so I walked over to one of the desks and took a seat while setting my backpack on the ground next to me.
