In the autumn of 1981, there was a college student who resided in Salem, Oregon, named Quinn Blaadz. He was a French immigrant who came to the USA for a better life. He was studying to become a Geographic Analyst (a person who studies layers of the Earth). He lived with his family in a small two bedroom condo, but some of the other members of the Blaadz family had to stay in Quinn's mobile RV that was parked in the front driveway, since there was not a lot of room in their condo. Next door lived an elderly man who grew up as an orphan boy in his younger years. His name was Griz Hallock and he was 82 years old. Former Marine. He seemed like a hoarder, always bringing home random items, like no-good metal car parts, torn apart chairs, and even old animal/bird cages, even though he didn't even own a pet. He bared many small, dusty knick-knacks inside of his filthy, rat-infested home.
Quinn witnessed Mr. Hallock every day at approximately 2:40PM as he got in his car to go to his college class. Mr. Hallock would always be outside at this time, watering his purple petunias, which were actually pretty large in size (about the circumference of a small cheeseburger) due to daily watering. Mr. Hallock gave off a smirk that seemed to say "Hey, kid! Hope you have an extraordinary day!" Quinn always thought of Griz Hallock as a peaceful, senile man, who could never even harm a fly. Little did he know about this man who was a former orphan and who was abused as an infant.
