Chapter 2- Until we meet again

Weeks went by since you first met your new friend Tadano. Needless to say, you've been a lot better since then. Like he somehow put meaning back into your life.

Upon arriving at the grocery store, you made your way to the staff locker room to put up your things and start working.

Just as you were about done hanging up your bag, a co-worker hooked their hand onto your forearm eager to tell you something.

"Hey {Y/n}! The boss told me to let you know you'll be doing stock packing today." You mentally groaned. 'Seriously!? That's the fifth time this week.' Giving a small nod, you picked up an unopened crate and began stocking an empty shelf.

By noon you had organized half the aisle and never has it looked that good. You occasionally stopped to assist customers that weren't sure where to find things and resumed your assigned task.

"Hey, do you know where i can find some ramen packages?"

When you turned to answer the customer, you were surprised to see Tadano with his usual smile, his hands stuffed in his navy blue hoodie.

Due to his unexpected visit, you fumbled a box of cereal before catching it in the nick of time and putting it back on the shelf.

"...please don't do that. Like, ever!"

"Heh sorry about that {Y/n}. Didn't mean to startle you."

After gaining control of your breathing, you continued stocking boxes while striking a conversation with your new friend.

"So what brings you here of all places?" Tadano just scratched his head with a sheepish smile. "I was in the area, so i decided to come visit you. Cool uniform by the way."

Now a blushing mess, you covered your nametag despite Him already seeing you in your work uniform. "Thanks i guess."

Tadano's POV:

That night i met {Y/n} i just couldn't stop thinking of how nice she was to me. No one has ever done that for me of their own free will.

Maybe this could be the one i was really meant for. What if she turns out to be like Retsy? I can only hope she isn't.

While ENI-O was driving, we passed the grocery store {Y/n} said she worked at. Traffic was pretty crowded today... Thinking for a bit i made my decision.

"Hey ENI-O park the limo won't you. There's something i gotta do."

"Understood sir."

When i walked in, the store really didn't looked packed as i would've thought. It wasn't hard to find the same {animal identity} i met a couple weeks ago. It seemed like she was having a hard time trying cut open one of the many sealed boxes.

While she had her back turned i took that as my chance to go talk to her.

"Hey, do you know where i can find some ramen packages?"

I guess she didn't know i was there because she almost dropped a box of cereal but clumsily caught it.

"...please don't do that. Like, ever!"

"Sorry about that {Y/n}, didn't mean to startle you."

She put a {paw/fin/feather} to her chest, calming herself down from the scare i gave her. Pretty adorable.

She then resumed her task all while not making eye contact. "So what brings you here of all places?" Now i was the one to be surprised but played it cool and scratched the back of my neck. "I was in the area, so i decided to come visit you. Cool uniform by the way."

I meant it when i said her uniform looked cool. A simple design but it suited her well. she blushed a dusty red and covered her name tag even though i already saw it. "It's not that cool Tadano ///>~<///"  "sure it is."

I feel like i really connect with {Y/n}. The same way i felt with Retsy... that's..all in the past now. I won't mess this one up like last time.

Your POV

After hours of back breaking labor, you finally completed stocking the entire aisle All. By. Yourself. You took a step back to admire your hard work. Neat and organized. When you glanced back you found Tadano staring off into the depths of space with his eyes doing that weird thing again.

Casually walking up to him, you flick him in the forehead to which he jolted out of his focused state.

"You okay? It's like you faded out or something." Your fit of giggles being loud enough to hear. "Oh.. um. Yeah I'm good. No need to worry about me." A few sweat drops formed which made you question the sincerity of his answer.

Now that your shift was over, you asked Tadano to wait for you while you got your things so the two of you can leave.

For the rest of the evening, the two of you walked around town sharing topics and discussions. He even offered to buy you frozen yogurt. Seriously was this guy rich or something? Probably not.

After much walking you decided to rest at a nearby park. Once you threw both of your empty cups away you leaned onto the bench.

"So how's the slacker life going for you?" Tadano leaned his arms onto his knees in peaceful composure. "It's alright, at least i don't have to go to a job i hate being stuck with." His response made you chuckle. "Some of us have to live you know?"

He stayed quiet for a while until he happily spoke up. "Hey! How about we hang out tomorrow." He asked while giving you that usual laid back smile. You thought for a bit before calmly smiling back. Maybe you really have found the one you were meant to be with..

"Sure, sounds fun."
