Everyone dreamed.
They dreamed about things that mattered to them. But how many of those dreams actually come true. To some people, the fulfillment of their dreams came easy. It was like they just thought about an idea and it was handed to them. To some, it was not that attainable.
That was what the young man, seated on the desk was thinking; dreams and its fulfillment. And how it was easy for others, but for him. It was just too near yet too far from his reach. Even though his dreams were not that hard to achieve, they were not nearly as impossible as being an astronaut who was meant to drift out into space. All he really wanted was to write.
He wanted to be writer so much. Not even a famous one but just to have one of his stories published by a publisher. That would have been enough. It was attainable enough; for most. There were too many fictional books in bookstores that kept reminding him that people do succeed. What mattered to him was, it was just not his work.
He glanced at the comment about the story again, 'As far as the story is concerned, after reading this. I can only say that it sucked.'
The word bothered him. It was too...vulgar. It hit him in the gut and told him he was not good enough.
The next was only slightly better, '...the science fiction premise is not realistic. There is no reason behind it. It is not logical.'
"What is the use of writing sci-fi if it had to make sense?" Zon muttered to himself. It was not the first time he was rejected. Nonetheless, it was as devastating as the first time, and the next and the next...on and on until he could only think about it in his head.
"If you wanted to read something logical then you might as well read Philosophy books," he continued to mutter to himself, slowly shaking his head.
He really couldn't fault the people these comments came from. He understood that each had his or her own taste in the things they read, all he could do was keep trying.
He sighed, exhausted.
Suddenly, the idea of just quitting was too tempting. But he had been through that road so many times and has only ended up writing again.
And still ... nothing.
It happened all the time; some comments will make him want to just give up. There have been too many that he tried to recall each of them – as numerous as they were.
He stared with blank seeing eyes, his back pressed to the chair and his face devoid of expression.
"Arrghhh," Zon cried out in frustration, patting his cheeks as if to wake himself up as he continued to mumble to himself, "Do you see how many books are being published? Wake up, and don't give up. One day, one of those will have your name on it... don't quit.. don't quit.. don't..."
"P' Zon???!!!" a boisterous voice called out just as the door to his room opened.
"Shia," startled out of his thoughts, the young man jerked and fell from his chair and found himself sprawling on the floor of his room.
