~continuation~

Mira's blood quickly ran cold at her brother's statement... they're... not alone?
"W-What do you mean? I... I see no one els-" suddenly a few arrows flew past the two, mere inches from their faces. It of courses caused Mira to shriek and Jace to abruptly slid to a stop. The two ended up falling down into the dirt, both grunting as they got a face full of dirt. The two quickly push themselves up to their knees and looked around frantically.
"Mira, come here!" Jace Says . Mira quickly crawls over to Jace and huddle up against her brother's chest as he wraps an arm around her and looks around, twitching his ears in every direction. Mira quickly began tearing up due to fear.
"J-Jace! What was that?!" Mira asked.
"Arrows... someone, or thing, fired at us. I assume with the intent of hitting one of us." Jace Says as he rummages through the duffle back while remaining alert and on guard.
"W-Why? We're just kids!" Mira Says.
"You'd be surprised that the world isn't all rainbows and sunshine sis." Jace Says as he pulls out a GUN and loads it. Mira goes pale as her jaw drops and blood goes cold.
"You have a gun?! I don't remember packing one! Also that's one of dad's he's gonna be so mad!" Mira Says.
"I... may have snuck it in... I originally wanted to do some target practice on some trees... I forgot about it until now. And I'm sure he'd understand... plus... he's never around. Just like mom... so he won't know." Jace Says.

Their parents were adventurers and always went on adventures, often times leaving Jace and Mira with a Nanny or babysitter that can last up to like two weeks! If they're lucky. So their parents were almost never around, and when they do come home, they just relax and pay a little attention to their children. It's not that they hate them, or didn't want them. It's because they're usually exhausted, and it's their job to go explore and gather information and new things. Their boss isn't very nice but the pay is too good to pass up. Of course Mira and Jace never really minded since they had each other and a nanny or babysitter. But... they'll always wish to spend more with their parents.

It was absolutely silent. Not a single noise, no wind, no distant sounds of children playing, or cars... just... painful and agonizing silence. Neither one of the two kids wanted to stand up in risk of a possible attack again.
"M-Maybe... their gone?" Mira choked out. Suddenly more arrows flew over their heads causing them to duck lower.
"Nope. Most certainly still there." Jace Says as he cocks the gun ready to fire at whomever it may be that's attacking them. Doesn't matter if they new them or not, he's willing to fire.
"How... are we gonna get home?" Mira asked, now feeling nauseous due to the fear and anxiety she's experiencing. Jace, looking at his Sister's suddenly ill looking face, looks around some more and really focuses on the surroundings. He immediately looks to the presume source of the arrows and aims his gun. Then fires it, covering his sister's ears. A blood curdling scream like sound is heard.
"Just as I suspected... it had to be them..." Jace's Says as he grabs his sister's arm and bolts for it, pulling Mira along. And as they run, multiply arrows began firing followed by sudden knifes, one of the knives barely graced Mira's face. Which caused Jace to fire at that direction. And once again the same blood curdling scream like sound is heard.
"Jace! What's... what's happening?! Who... Who are "them"?!" Mira asked through breaths as they dodged the projectiles.

"Would you believe me if I said that there are certain creatures called... "happy triggers"? Because that's what we're dealing with!" Jace Says as he sharply dodged an arrow WITH a knife on it.
"But they sound friendly with a name like that!" Mira Says.
"They are anything but Friendly. Their brutal and cruel." Jace Says. Suddenly he felt a sharp pain in his side. It caused him to scream and trip. He fell down and so did Mira. Mira gave a small grunt before pushing herself up. She rubs her head and looks to Jace.
"JACE!" She cries as she sees her brother impaled by an arrow. Right in his side. A lot of Blood stained his tank top as he took shaky breaths and held his injured side. Mira crawled over to her brother. And looked at him with the more petrified look ever. There was already a small poop of blood being created. Mira felt tears prick at her eyes once again. She attempted to reach for the arrow, in attempt to maybe get rid of it. But Jace moved her hand away.
"M...Mira... don't... It'll only... make it worse..." Jace Says, obviously trying to hold back his own tears to seem brave.
"J-Jace..." Mira Says meekly as she watches her brother stir in pain and gritting his teeth. Mira looks to the bag that was still around Jace's shoulders. She knows she didn't pack any medical supplies, not like she would need them anyways. Rainbow Bandages, cotton balls, and hydrogen peroxide can't help someone possibly bleeding to death. So Mira did the only thing she could do... burst out crying and yelling for help at the top of her lungs, praying that someone was close by and could help...

.

About an hour goes by and Mira stops yelling due to her throat burning. She looks to Jace who seemed lifeless... laying in a now medium sized pool of his own blood. Mira's eyes burned.
"J-Jace... I'm... I'm sorry..." Mira Says as she leaned over the near lifeless body of her beloved older brother and sobbed into his chest. Now she was alone, the sun was setting now, and who knows what lurks out here in the dark. And they were nowhere near their home. So going there was pointless. And terrifying to the young vixen. But then she heard it. The blaring noise of sirens and engines. Mira pushes herself up and looked around, tears still pouring from her still Burning eyes, as she twitched her ears around. Finally she saw the blue and red lights coming closer. She turns her head and she sees them! Police cars and what she presumed to be an ambulance.

The cars quickly halt as soon as they caught sight of Mira. One of the police car doors slammed opened and out flew their current nanny! A beautiful lioness, sand colored fur, golden hair tied up into a bun, and a long maid's dress. Her name, Aspen. She ran up, and quickly embraced Mira. Who clung to her for dear life. Aspen quickly looked to Jace and screamed.
"HURRY! GET JACE TO THE HOSPITAL!" Aspen shouted. As she stood up, still holding Mira who just stayed silent mainly due to not wanting to strain her throat more. And sure enough several doctors ran out of the ambulance, stretcher in tow, and ran up to Jace and quickly checked over him. Then quickly, get carefully, move Jace onto the stretcher, and ran off with him, quickly loading Jace into the ambulance, closing the door and drove off as police inspected the area and dubbed it the fault of those "happy triggers" more like "meanie triggers" to Mira. But she was too scared and frightened to focus on it.

"Are you alright Mira?" Aspen asked as she walked over to a cleaner spot and set Mira down and checked her over. Mira choked back tears.
"I-I'm Fine... but... what... what about... Jacy...? Is he... is he okay?" Mira asked, her voice weak and hoarse. Aspen looked at Mira's tear filled eyes. Aspen's ears lowered as she used her thumbs to wipe away the tears.
"I'm afraid... I do not know..." aspen said, her voice soft and sad sounding. Mira starts to tear up again. Aspen picks her up again and rests her head against her chest. She then undos Mira's now messy ponytail. Her hair falls down gracefully and rests just below her shoulder blades. Aspen soon starts to combs her hair with her fingers in an attempt to comfort her.
"Do not fret dear child... Jace is a very strong boy... I'm sure, he will be just fine..." Aspen says trying to comfort Mira. It kind of worked. Mira quieted down and wrapped her arms around Aspen's neck and nuzzles into her neck and closed her eyes. Soon a police officer walks up.
"Should we wait to schedule a meet up? We will need the full story on what happened." The police officer says, keeping her pitch low as to not disturb Mira, who presumingly had fallen asleep due to all that has happened.
"I believe it would be best..." Aspen Says.
"Are you their guardian?" The officer asked.
"I guess you could consider me their temporary guardian. Their parents are out on long business trip." Aspen Says.
"Ah, okay. How about next week? Or perhaps later this week?" The officer asked. Aspen thinks for a moment.
"Hm... I believe next week will be fine." Aspen responds.
"Alright. We'll give you a call to set up a date next week and time. For now, enjoy the rest of your evening. I'll take you guys back to your place of residence, and don't worry about the boy. We have the best doctors and I'm sure they can save his life." The officer says.
"I hope. I don't know how the loss of Jace would affect Her. And thank you miss." Aspen Says as she bows a little.

And soon the two girls were taken home, Mira was put to bed, snuggled up in some blankets and cuddling with a plushie. And was wished a peaceful sleep from Aspen. Aspen on the other hand, stood up for a while and did some late night cleaning before wrapping up the night herself. She's going to have fun explaining this to Mira's and Jace's parents when she can get ahold of them.
