A few months later...

A few months had gone by and Jace was saved thankfully! But sadly... he's in a coma... Mira also did the question thingy. She told them what exactly happened. She nearly cried again, but she managed to be a brave girl. So that's a plus. She also had Aspen by her side who comforted her.

Now Mira sat on a chair outside of her beloved brother's hospital room, waiting for the doctors to come out and allow her access to at least see him. Aspen was also there with her as well, but had to use the restroom. Aspen was hesitant on letting Mira stay alone, but the young vixen wanted to stay put and wait, so Aspen unwillingly allowed her to stay.

Mira sat in her chair staring down at the ground with her ears lowered. Suddenly her ears perked up as she heard a nearby door open. So she sat up and looked to her left to see a doctor, who was a Pine Marten with the generic doctor uniform, come out of her brother's room.
"Is Jace okay?" Mira asked. Her voice still soft. The doctor knelt down in front of her.
"Yes my dear, he's fine. Just asleep. I presume you wish to see him?" The doctor asked, his voice soft and British sounding. As to why he said asleep, Mira doesn't know he's in a coma, she thinks he's just sleeping. With that being said Mira nodded her head. The doctor stood up and held his hand out. Mira pushes herself off of her chair and took his hand. He then guided Mira inside and lead her to the bed where Jace laid, knocked out real good. Mira released the doctor's hand and walked up to the bed. Barely tall enough to see over it. So she placed her hands on the bed and stood higher on her toes. Only gaining like an once taller. The doctor walked over to a chair, grabbed it and brought it over to the bed. He then sets it next to the bed, picked up Mira and placed her on it. Mira just got onto her knees and held onto the bed as she stares sadly at her brother.

"He's been asleep for a long time... was he really that tired?" Mira asked. The doctor knew he'd have to explain the situation to her.
"Mira was it?" The doctor asked.
"Yeah." Mira Says.
"You see, my dear Mira, your brother... he's not really asleep per se." The doctor says placing a hand on her shoulder.
"He's... not asleep?" Mira asked.
"Not exactly. You see, he is in what is called a "Coma" it's where he is still alive, just unresponsive to his surroundings and cannot be woken up." The doctor explains.
"Oh." Was all Mira said.
"So technically, he is asleep in a way. So don't worry. He will survive and wake up soon." The doctor said. This gives Mira hope, and she finally smiles. Though it's a very soft smile.
"You guys are the best doctors!" Mira Says as she stares up at the doctor. The doctor just chuckles and smiles. Mira looked back to her brother and hesitantly placed her hand on top of his. And gave a bigger and brighter smile.

Some more time has passed and Mira laid in the living room drawing. Aspen has to leave so Mira was left alone with Aspen's Sister who volunteered to watch her temporarily until Aspen returned. She sat next to Mira watching her doodle away. Mira was currently drawing a picture of her and Jace with hearts everywhere. Soon she heard a car pull up and an engine stop. So she perked up.
"Oh, seems like my time is up." Aspen's sister said as she got up. Mira just sat up. Aspen's sister ruffled Mira's hair and walked off just as the front door opened in the other room. Once the sister disappeared behind a corner a small conversation is heard and then the front door closes.
"Mira, I'm back! And I have a surprise!" Aspen calls out. Mira got up, grabbing her drawing and walking off. She soon rounds the corner and gasps. Aspen was there with Jace! Mira's tail wagged.
"Jacy!" Mira Says as she runs up. Jace looked to her with a blank stare.
"Jacy! Lookie! I drew us!" Mira Says as she presents the picture. Jace looked to it, grabbed it... and crumpled it up and threw it off to the side as he pushed Mira to the side rather roughly and made his way to the stair case that leads upstairs to their rooms. Mira was shocked. Aspen was a little surprised too. Mira grabs the crumpled up paper and jogs up to Jace.
"Jace? Why... why did you crumpled up the picture? You usually say something about it!" Mira Says. Jace stops walking and so does Mira.
"How about this... it's hideous. Now leave me alone." Jace Says coldly. Mira dropped the crumpled piece of paper as she felt her heart shatter. What was wrong with Jace? He's never cold and always said something nice about the drawings Mira made of them.
"But... are you okay...?" Mira asked. Silence.
"...Big.... brother...?" Mira Says meekly. Jace pivoted sharply on his heel and shoved Mira down. She lets out a yelp as she hits the ground. She then stares up at Jace in disbelief and fear.
"LEAVE ME ALONE!" Jace Says as he marches upstairs. Mira watches as he makes his way upstairs. He soon disappears and a loud slam is heard. Aspen witnessed the whole thing and walked up to Mira who just stared blankly at the ground with a mixture of shock, disbelief and sadness.
"Perhaps... he's just a little cranky. He did just get out of the hospital after a while." Aspen Says as she crouches down and picks up Mira.
Deep down... Mira knows that's not the case... Jace changed, there was no denying it. Anyone could tell if they knew Jace as well as she did. But... why? Why did he change? Was it the fault of the ambush from a while ago? Mira can understand grudges, Jace has had his fair share of grudges, but... it never affected him in this way. Was it a grudge against Mira herself? What did she do? Did she somehow anger Jace?

Mira looked down to the crumpled piece of paper, then back to the stairs. She then buried her face into Aspen's neck as a few tears slipped her eyes. Aspen once again comforted her and walked over to the couch and sat down. Mira just sat in her lap remaining huddled up to Her as she gently claws at Aspen's back, holding her tears back.
