—• PIPER PRESCOTT has been growing up in foster care for as long as she can remember, being shipped from one house to the next, time after time. Accidents always seemed to follow her, though their cause was a mystery to everyone but her, and no one kept her long.
Never staying anywhere for too long, she never truly connected with anyone, or any home. Except Queens. Every house she's ever had was in Queens. She loved her neighborhood for being just as big a mess as she was.
When something sinister is lurking within the city, though, and her best friend (or only friend) is put in danger, Piper is forced to embrace the parts of herself she has always tried to keep hidden with the rest of her past, to be forgotten.
As she begins her investigation into the seedy underbelly of New York she runs into a crime-fighting, adolescent in spandex with the voice of the kid who sits in front of her in chemistry. Together they decide to continue their search, which leads them to discover a human trafficking ring operating right under their noses.
