"There is no fucking way I'm going out tonight. You can go out and get drunk on your own." Taurus proclaimed, glancing up from her phone to shoot Gemini an icy glare.
Smiling innocently, Gemini leaned back before lightly nudging Virgo's arm.
"You'll come with me, won't you Virgo? Tell Taurus to come." she quipped, leaning on her boyfriend's shoulder as he let out a tired groan.
"Don't bring him into this Gemini. I said no. End of story." Taurus asserted once more, rising from her seat as she clutched her books to her chest. I told Gemini a million times that there's no chance in hell I'll show up to Leo's party. Fuck.
"Fine then. Suit yourself." Gemini shrugged, whipping out a compact mirror as she applied a layer of fruit-scented gloss onto her soft lips. "You just don't want to go since Scorpio is going to be there. I told you, he's probably moved on. You should probably move on too. Maybe you could even hook up with Leo." she suggested playfully, smiling again at Taurus. "I've seen him checking you out. You two would look cute together."
Virgo held his breath as Taurus narrowed her eyes at her. She balled her fists slightly as she tightened her lips.
"Oh fucking hell Gemini. Stop trying to manipulate me into going. You're just doing this since you don't want to go alone." she snapped defiantly before striding off. She was sick of Gemini following her around like a leech...trying to tell her what to do. I can make my own fucking decisions.
As Taurus strode off, Virgo glanced up with widened eyes.
"Don't you think she's being dramatic? I'm just trying to help her." Gemini sighed as she turned to him, her voice laced with disappointment, hurt and betrayal. Virgo frowned slightly in response.
"She needs space, Gem. If you really want I'll come to this party with you." he responded, sounding detached as he fidgeted with his ring.
This made Gemini smile as she reached over and squeezed his hand, grinning with excitement. "Babe, this is going to be so much fun! I fucking love you, even though you can be the biggest nerd sometimes!" she proclaimed as she leaned into him, pecking his lips as she wrapped her arms around him. "Leo's going to love having you there! I remember how close you guys used to be."
As Gemini mentioned Leo, he widened his eyes as he glanced away. He bit his lower lip as he stared down at his untouched sandwich.
"Yeah...I don't know." he responded dismissively, turning as he stared out at the courtyard. He didn't want to let Gemini down yet at the same time he didn't want to bump into Leo.
The two remained silent for a while, sitting together awkwardly before Gemini finally spoke up.
"Are you going to eat that?" she questioned, gesturing to the sandwich. "Because if not, I'll eat it for you."
"Go for it. I'm not hungry." he mumbled despondently, getting up as he slung his bag across his shoulder. "I'll see you soon. Love you babe." he added, kissing her head gently before leaving. As Virgo strode off, he felt trapped. He'd known Gemini for a few years now and cared deeply for her. But I need to stop pretending like I love her. But I don't want to hurt her. Fuck! He recalled the time they first got together a few months ago. It happened during a game of truth or dare. Wincing slightly, he could still remember the dreaded question that escaped Capricorn's mouth. "Gem, are you in love with anyone in this room? Kiss them."
He shuddered internally as Gem turned to him in the darkness, puckering up her over-glossed lips as she latched herself onto him. He couldn't humiliate her in front of everyone...
Closing his eyes as he leaned against the lockers, it all came flooding back. He couldn't shake the strange look on Leo's face as he declared his supposed love for Gemini. What was I supposed to do? It's all a facade. I want to scream.
He widened his eyes as he heard the sudden approach of footsteps. Taking a deep breath, he recomposed himself as he turned to see Aries.
"Hey kitty~" she winked playfully as she sauntered past him, swaying her hips as she walked. She was dressed in sport attire and smelt like vanilla and peaches as she passed him, wielding a lacrosse stick.
Forcing a smile, he simply nodded at her before turning to finally open his locker. Hopefully she'll leave me alone.
"Are you coming to Leo's party? I know Gem is. She's been talking about you a lot." she said bluntly, pausing as she turned back to face him.
Despite her friendly appearance, her voice was intense.
"Yeah. I think so." he quipped back, pretending to look for something in his bag. Aries pouted slightly as she meandered closer, glancing over his shoulder.
"Holy fucking shit. Your locker is so neat." she remarked, seeming impressed as she nodded. "And wow. You're coming to Leo's party? After everything he said about you?" she added, leaning closer as she inspected his locker. She was rapt as she ran a slim finger along the edges.
"Wait. What?" Virgo suddenly perked up. He felt a swirl of anxiousness within as he began to panic. What has Leo been saying? Did he...Did he tell them...? He felt his worries claw up his throat, yearning to escape as he began to feel dizzy. Please. Just tell me.
Aries snickered slightly in response as she retreated, swinging around her lacrosse stick casually. "Don't worry about it. Is that Taurus over there?" she changed the subject as she noticed Taurus storming across the hallway.
A strained expression crossed Virgo's features as his heart thudded against his chest. You brought it up. Just tell me. He ran his tongue over the rim of his teeth as he tried to calm down. How do I ask her again without seeming paranoid?
As he opened his mouth to speak again, he was caught off guard as Pisces approached them. She glanced down bashfully as her hair fell over her delicate features.
"Virgo. I've been looking for you." she spoke softly as she smiled sadly at him. Her eyes were red and puffy. "Do you think Taurus hates me? I...I didn't know about...I shouldn't have gone for Scorpio..." her voice cracked slightly as she tried to hold herself together.
"Why would Taurus hate you?" Aries suddenly interjected brusquely as she squeezed her shoulder supportively. "She's not that type of person. She's probably just pissed at Scorpio. You should come to Leo's party tonight. It'll help get your mind off of things." she suggested, brushing her hair out of her face.
Pisces gazed up at her in a trance-like manner. "Are you sure? I feel...like I'm a horrible person." she continued sadly, consumed by melancholy as she bit her lower lip.
"Honey, listen to me. You're the sweetest angel here. You could never be a horrible person, even if you tried." Aries smiled as Virgo nodded beside her awkwardly. He was itching to ask her about what Leo said.
"Aries is right. None of this is your fault." he assured Pisces as he gently hugged her.Meanwhile, Scorpio had skipped school for the day. Lying on his bed, he was looking through old polaroids of himself and Taurus.
He flicked through them one by one, staring intensely as he analysed each one. Her smile, her lips, her eyes...he craved her presence as he felt his throat tighten. I need to find her. He lay back slightly, trying to remember her scent. He still had an old jumper of hers which she never retrieved. He still kept it safely in his closet, stored in a box with other old pictures of them together.
As much as he tried, he couldn't get over her. She still visited him every night in his dreams where they were back at the beach when everything was perfect. He could not handle seeing her at school, glaring at him with such hatred from across the library. Every time he tried to talk to her, she ignored him.
Tonight. Tonight will be the night I'll get her back.
He smiled at the thought of holding her in his arms once again. He longed for the taste of her lips as he closed his eyes, reality receding as he thought only of Taurus. She will be mine again. Just you wait...
