Previously: The light in Mystery's eyes fades to nothing. The smile is still there. She slowly drifts to the soggy carpet floor. Payton's smile turns into a frown.
We continue:
Mystery sat up. Shaking. Payton asleep next to her. On the same bed, but with pillows between them. She places a hand onto her heart, heaving. The night terrors were back again, she hadn't taken her medicine in days. She goes down shakily onto the floor grabbing her stuffed bear from inside her bag.
She brings it back up to the bed. Which is now wet and warm from her sweat and her tears. She crys into the bear. Shaking like crazy. She must have left her pills at home, probably because she didn't know that this whole phenomenon was gonna happen.
Her shaking was crazy and she wanted to yell for Payton to wake up. To help her. But she didn't, because even though she was lonely. And she was desperate. And she was scared. She didn't need someone else to make it worse.
So as her sobs echoed around the cold, dark, hotel room. She felt alone.
And there was nothing she could do about it.
