Everything stops while you process what he just said. Even though you can feel yourself dying on the inside, you automatically put on a fake grin.
“Thats great Kar!” you say, and you can hear your own voice falter slightly.
You hope he doesn’t notice, and he doesn’t.
“When… When did this happen?” you ask, feeling your heart shatter into a million tiny pieces.
He replied, “I asked her last night, and she said yes!” with a dreamy look on his face, as if he was eating the best cotton candy on Alternia.
“Thats awesome Karkat! I’m so happy for you,” you lie. You can feel years brimming at the edge of your eyes.
“I’m just so happy she said yes.” That feels like another stab to the heart. You don’t know how much longer you can take this.
“Hey… i have to go. I’ve got some things to do. Message me if you need anything,” you quickly sputter out, before running out of Karkat’s room.
Swiftly and quietly, you sprint back to your room with tears streaming down your face, and slam the door. You flop down on your earth-human bed that Dave and Rose alchemized once they arrived on this gog damn meteor. You bury your face into a pillow and sob, constantly repeating over and over in your head, “He would never be flushed for me, we are just moirails.”
