While walking to Karkat’s respite block, you prepared for what he might ask. No matter what, you must refuse to answer if he asks why you hid for 4 days.

(THIS SCENE CHANGE IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY A TINY GAMZEE EATING A SOPOR SLIME PIE)

You slowly open Karkat’s door and peek in. You can see him on his back, staring at the ceiling. He looked peaceful, yet troubled.

Now, one of the reasons you liked Karkat so much was what he looked like when he thought nobody was watching. His face relaxed from its usually angry scowl, which actually made him look attractive. His raven black hair was just the perfect length, and the waviness made it look like an ocean reflecting a starless night. Even his petit horns were adorable in their own way.

Unfortunately, you sneezed which alerted him to your presence. You were surprised though, because when he looked over, his face didn’t transform back into his classic angry scowl, but rather stayed the same, maybe even softened a bit.

“Hey Kar,” you said quietly, and walked in. You sat down on the floor, but he motioned for you to lay next to him on the bed.

“Were you awake when I messaged you?” he asked.

“No. I was awake. I couldn't sleep as well.”

“_____?”

“Yea Kar?”

“Why did you hide for 4 days”

You turn your head away so he can’t see your face. “I already said I didn’t want to talk about it Karkat.”

“_____. Tell me why. We are matesprits after all.”

You turn your head to look at Karkat and raise your eyebrow.

“Fuck. I meant matesprits. mOIRAILS. I MEAN MOIRAILS,” he quickly says in a flustered tone.

You laugh quietly, even though his words hurt. “I know what you mean, Kar.”

You turn to face him, thinking he won’t ask you again why you hid.

Unfortunately, you were wrong.
