Chapter 31

I pulled on my shirt and put my belt on, slipping my sword into my sheath and walking out to meet Bella at the door.

"You ready?" She asked as I entered.

"With you by my side, I'm ready for anything," I winked.

"You're such an idiot," Bella rolled her eyes, "anyway we should get going, we only have until sunrise to get this done with."

Bella and I walked down the path and into the kingdom, lurking in back allies and shadows as not to be detected. Soon we made it to the gates of the courtyard. Bella took one side and I took the other, I got the guard on the right, and she the one on the left. Knocking them out to assure that no nose was made we regrouped and Bella helped me jump onto the wall. I pulled myself up onto the wall then proceeded to help Bella up too. As we walked down to look over the edge of the wall, we noticed to guards with torches. I looked to Bella, who had the same devilish grin as I and I held up 3 on my fingers, 3.... 2... 1... Bella and I both jumped at the same time right onto the guards, quickly drawing our knives and slitting their throats before they even had time to react. I got on my feet and snaked through the courtyard with Bella close behind. When we reached the barracks there were only a few guards that we had to take care of.

As we entered the barracks I could see Bella carefully scanning the rooms for her long lost friend. I followed quietly until we came to a stop in one of the rooms. "Jonas..." I heard her breathe out. I turned to see the man, but I gasped when I saw who Bella was looking at. He was a bloody mess, multiple lacerations covered his body and a woman was weeping silently by his side.

"Hey Bells," the man coughed out.

"What happened..." Bella questioned tears already falling from her cheeks.

"Long story," he chuckled but quickly stopped because of the pain it was causing him.

"Let's get you out of here," she said looking to me for help. I quickly took Jonas's side and helped him out of the barracks. It was going to be difficult to get him out of here now...
