Amatorculist: A little insignificant lover; a pretender to affection
Uraraka watched you with a look the two boys next to her couldn't place. Iida was about to ask her about it when she turned to them, sighing. "Does (Y/N) seem too nice to you?" The boys blinked.
"It isn't possible to be too nice," Iida said.
"Why do you ask?" Midoriya asked.
"I don't know," she answered honestly, rubbing the back of her neck. "I guess I've just got a bad feeling about her." Midoriya stewed on those words for a few moments.
"I'm sure it's nothing." Iida waved her concern away.
"Yeah, probably." Uraraka faced you again, her head propped up on her chin. You noticed her attention and waved, smiling wide. You walked over to join the trio, sitting across the table from Midoriya.
"Hey guys, I heard you talking about me." The trio froze. Your quirk enhanced your senses and reflexes, which they had apparently forgotten. You laughed good-naturedly. "It's cool. I probably come off as happy go lucky all the time, it must be annoying."
"You're not annoying, (Y/N)," Midoriya squeaked, glancing away. You smiled, tilting your head to the side.
"Thanks Deku." Uraraka bristled, looking between the two. Was there something going on there she wasn't aware of? The bell rang signaling the end of lunch and all four stood. "Hey Deku, can I talk to you for a second?"
"Yeah, sure," he replied, waving his friends ahead. Uraraka watched them over her shoulder as Iida led the two away. She knew something was going on, she just wasn't sure what yet.
"So, I've got a question for you," you started, looking everywhere save for the boy in front of you. "I was just wondering if maybe you wanted to..." You chanced a glance back at him, spying his emerald green eyes looking at you expectantly. You swallowed nervously. "...come by this new cafe I saw on my walk here. It looked like something you might like so I figured..." You trailed off, mumbling incoherently, then peeked up at him through your lashes anxiously. You almost wondered if your racing heartbeat was loud enough for him to hear.
"Sure!" You let out a breath of relief. "When?"
"After school, if that's cool with you?"
"Sounds great. I'll see you then!" He's much too innocent for his own good.
After walking in the double doors to the cafe with Midoriya by your side, you put a hand to your chin as you surveyed the collection of bakery goods. There was so many mouth-watering options you weren't sure if you could decide on just one.
"You can go pick out a table, I'll order. What do you want?" you said. He told you what he wanted then chose from one of the many unoccupied seating spaces. You ordered, deciding right before that a blueberry muffin would go amazing with hot cocoa. You paid then sat down across from Midoriya. He was reaching across the table with the money he owed when you laughed, shaking your head.
"Keep it, it's on me." His jaw dropped, his hand moving back a few centimeters.
"Are you sure?"
"Totally. Besides, you can pay me back later." You winked. He became flustered, taking the money back and avoiding your gaze. He probably thought you meant something dirty, but as amusing as that would be, that wasn't what you were planning.
The barista called for your order and you stood to get it. You bit into the muffin when you were back in your seat, humming contentedly to yourself. It tasted heavenly. You became aware of a faint tapping on the glass to the cafe, everyone else blissfully unaware due to them not having superhuman hearing. You glanced over Midoriya's shoulder at the figure at the window, their chilling gaze pinning you to your seat. You gulped back your hot cocoa, nodding your head the slightest bit.
