Anne Frank was born on the June 12, 1929 in Frankfurt.
She was born into a family of three: a father who was a contractor, a mother who was a dedicated housewife, an a beautiful, intelligent sister three years older than her. Living in their house in Germany, the family had a humble life. Anne and her sister, Margot, where the descendants of a wealthy Jewish family that had immigrated to Germany hundreds of years ago. Their father, Otto, had served in the German Army during the first world war. After returning to Germany, he married Anne's mother, Edith six years after the war ended I925. Although Anne's family were Jewish, and her mother came from a traditional background, they often kept things religion-free. They were a happy content family.
Anne and Margot can be described as opposites; Anne was grumpy, disobedient and full of liveliness unlike her sister who was a happy and well behaved daughter. The family often joked about this.
Contrary to many fathers of the time, Otto was attentive with a patient demeanour; he played with his children, and he brought his wife breakfast in bed every Sunday. However outside their warm family circle, trouble was brewing...
