August

Sighing I plopped down onto my bed. Thinking about the tragedies that I've been through over the years.

"I need to stop sulking around and shit. It aint good fa ya." I said to myself,  rubbing my hands down my face.

After not even thirty seconds of resting I heard crucial cry from one of the girls.

Immediately jumping from my bed I ran to the girls' room hoping nothing bad had happened.

I watched Kayden lie down on the bed crying.

"What da fuck done happend now." I whispered to myself.

"Uncle Aug it was a mistake." Amiyah said sadly as she rubbed Kayden's back.

"What happened?" I said going over and picking her up after seeing that she would need some sort of fixing from the hospital. Her ankle was twisted and starting to swell.

"We was jumping on the bed and she fell. Then I made a mistake and jumped on her." Amiyah said feeling very sorry. "I'm sorry Kay, I promise."

Although Kayden was not able to speak she was to busy crying.

"You aight it was a mistake." I tell her before bending down to kiss her forehead.

"What happened to Kay?" Chaylin asked as we entered the living room.

"Her ankle is probably broken. Miyah accidentally stepped on it. I'm bout to take her to the hospital you think you can stay here with yo ur sister until I get back?"  I asked her and she nodded.

"Yeah I got it." She responded looking up from her phone then quickly reverted back to her phone.

"Aight I gotchu a couple dollars." I took Kayden to the car and grabbed my keys out of my pocket.

On the way to the hospital I shot Chay a text letting her know not to open the door unless it was my momma.

They had been over here for about a month. They've been back and forth between me and my momma since my sister died and I still ain't shook back from that. I can only say my nieces are the very strong women in the making. They done done seen a lot and it seems like they can't catch a break.

They were supposed to be headed back to New Orleans with my momma today.

"Uncle Aug it hurt!" She cried.

I pulled into the emergency parking lot. "You aight baybeh, they finna help you in here."

She sniffled and cried on my shoulder I could feel her tears soaking my shirt.

I explained to the nurse what happened  at home and she had me fill out some papers before sending us back to the waiting area.

After about ten minutes they called her name and sent us us to triage.

"What's the problem today Cutie you break something?" The nurse walked in with a clipboard then looking at Kay for an answer. Seeing that she was nodding slowly with tears falling she spoke. "Aww it can't be that bad now. Let me take a look ." She squat down to look at Kay's ankle while I held her in my lap and lightly touched and scanned it for swelling I assume.

"And how long ago did this happen Dad?" She asked. Looking up at me

"Oh nah this ma niece. I love her like she mine tho." I smiled down at Kayden.

"Oh I'm so sorry- " She tried apologizing.

"Nah you good." I assured her. "But it ain't been long we came immediately after it happened. I'll say about fifteen or twenty minutes ago." I answered not really sure what the hell this had to do with it.

"Well it definitely looks broken. We're gonna give her something for the pain because I'm sure this little honey is hurting." She looked at Kayden sadly. "But not to worry we'll take a look in the X-ray to see what we're dealing with then treat it and she'll be in her way."

"Aight thanks." I nodded.

"No problem. Just hang tight while I grab her a chair and I'll lead you to the X-ray room." She told us.

After a few minutes she came back with the medicine and a wheelchair. I got her to take the medicine before helping her into the chair then following the nurse we needed to go.

"Wait here and the doctor will be in shortly."
I shot my mama a text letting her know what was going on while we wait as Kayden busied herself counting tiles on the wall.

"Knock knock." A soft voice said entering the room as she knocked on the door and cut on one of the lights making the room less dim. "How are you guys today? This must be Miss Kayden?"

"Yes ma'am." Kayden nodded.

"Well Kayden I'm Doctor Ayanda and I'm just going to ask you a few questions then we are gonna get you an X-ray, Alright?" She said as I took in her slight African accent and beautiful, curvy body. Her skin was the most beautiful, smooth and dark skin I've ever seen.

Kay nodded. "Alrighty then." She started asking Kay questions and then she looked at me when she finished.

"Okay are you dad?" She asked.

"Nah this my niece." I answered gazing at her.

"Okay." She nodded. "Give us a minute and we'll be back for an xray.

After getting an xray and cast we were getting ready to go.

"Here are your discharge papers. You're free to go." She said.

"Alright let's go baybeh. " I said helping Kay out the door.

She hopped out with her cast and crutches but I stayed behind a little and gave the doctor a michevious smile.

"You have a good day baybeh girl." I said looking down at her.

She looked up at me with what seemed like the same sinister smirk I held on my face. "You too, sir." She answered fiercely then turned and swayed down the hall.

I should have just asked for her damn number....
I thought as I watched her thick ass giggle in her scrubs as she moved further away.
