Perfect life? Perhaps not

Chapter 16

Mason comes to Kayla's room.

"Kay, you have a visitor at the door." says Mason.

"I don't want to see anyone." says Kayla.

"Not even me?" says David.

"David, what are you doing here?"

"I need to talk to you."

"I will leave you two to talk." says Mason and leaves the room.

"Thanks Mase." says Kayla.

"So I heard I put you in the hospital."

"Who told you? Bella?"

"Yes. Why didn't you call me?"

"Look, I didn't feel well and then Meg and Mike told me bad news. I needed time to process it. And you were angry at me. I am so sorry for saying those words. I regreted them the moment I said them."

"Let's not talk about it. You need to avoid stress."

"I just meant to say I am sorry."

"Why didn't you come home after the hospital?"

"I don't know. I just didn't think you would want to see me. You stormed out."

"I will make you happy, just come home."

"Deal."

After this conversation Kayla's life returns to normal. She returns to David's apartment and is very happy. She spends most of her time hanging out with either David or Mason. She also starts to write a new book. After about a month later she goes to the kitchen to get something to eat when she hears the conversation between Rafael and David.

"You can't go with me. I need to go alone." says Rafael.

"Why don't you want to tell your family about me?"

"Because they are too religious to accept you. And on top of it you are married and my boss."

"I can end my marriage. What is the problem?"

"Seriously? After everything she has done for you? You want to abandon her?"

"The kids she will have aren't mine so what is the problem?"

"I can't believe you. You promised her you would take care of her."

"I still will. But I am giving her a choice to be with the father of the babies."

Kayla comes in.

"Hey guys. Is everything ok?"

"Yeah why?" says David.

"You were shouting."

"Just a tiny misunderstanding."

"Aha."

David leaves.

"Thank you for defending me in front of David." says Kayla.

"No problem. Wait, you heard that?"

"Yep. I suspected David thinks I am a burden to him."

"I heard everything, well at least the part of him giving me a choice to be with Sasha. But I was wondering. What caused the talk to even happen?"

"My mother is sick and I want to go visit her but David wants to come with to tell her the truth."

"Why not?"

"My parents are both very religious. They will hate me if I tell them the truth."

Leah comes in with tears in her eyes.
