AN: This is a scene from the first book "The Prisoner of Cell 25" of my favorite book series "Michael Vey" by Richard Paul Evans. If interested, the first book is available here on Wattpad.
"Hey~!" exclaimed the Voice, almost sheepishly "Remember how I said this was gonna be a happy one?"
"Yeah..?"
"I may or may not have...um...lied..?"
"You asshole!" exclaimed the explosive teen
"I'm sorry! But this one is one of my favorites! It's not that dark! At least not at this point of time! I promise I'll give you one or two light hearted musicals after we are done with this world!"
Many sighed
"Alright," said Midoriya "but this better be the last one!"
"It is, I promise!" At least for now...
"Also, before I forget, there are no Quirks in this world"
With that, the screen lit up
Midoriya felt as if he'd been in Cell 25 for weeks. He laid in the dark hugging himself. He was wearing a blue pair of jeans, his trademark red shoes, a white t-shirt and a green hoodie with rabbit ears on the hood. He also wore a silver wrist watch on his left wrist. For some reason, he was also faintly glowing.
Midoriya suddenly regretted having agreed to this
"What place is Deku in?" asked Uraraka
"And why is he glowing?" asked Iida
"As I said before," started the Voice "there are no Quirks in this world. However, due to a test gone wrong at a hospital, there are seventeen children that were born with the ability of some sort of electrical manipulation. These children all glow faintly, so they were named 'Glows'. Midoriya just so happens to be one of them. So is Uraraka for that matter."
"But what IS that place, kero?" asked Tsuyu "And why is he there?"
"That will soon be explained"
He kept caressing his wristwatch with his thumb while the other hand clutched his hoodie. Both had been gifted to him on his fifteenth birthday a little more than a month ago. It seemed so long ago now. He remembered receiving the silver wristwatch from his mother at breakfast, when she told him that it had originally belonged to his father. That same night, Uraraka had given him the green rabbit hoodie when she came with Iida for a small birthday dinner his mother had organized. He had been so happy.
If only he had known that his life would go to hell in only two days.
"That can't be good" muttered Yaomomo
That Monday, he was supposed to go for pizza with his mother and his friends, but Uraraka had been unable to go due to a severe headache she got that evening. He had been a bit disappointed that she wouldn't be able to make it, but ignored it in favor of celebrating. When they were leaving though, a strange man had approached them. Chisaki.
He couldn't really remember what happened. Only that he had been knocked out. Next day, he woke up in the hospital only to receive horrible news. His mother had been kidnapped.
"No..." mumbled wide-eyed Midoriya, while everyone else was shocked.
Afterwards, he found out that it she had been taken by the organization he and his friends had been researching. The Yakuza. Things only got worse when he found out the real reason Uraraka hadn't come. She was missing. In other words, she had been taken as well.
