CHAPTER TWO

what you gon' do when there's blood in the water?

╴blood // water | grandson

"AT LEAST BUY A LADY A DRINK FIRST," Harper strained out humorously from the against the wall. A large smirk on her face showing her amusement. She could easily get out of his hold if she really wanted to, although Harper found this entertaining enough to wait.

"Who. Are. You?" The boy repeats again, putting more pressure on her neck. It was obvious that her response didn't amuse him.

"Harper Mikaelson, a pleasure I'm sure," Harper finally answered after a moment of silence, her voice slightly raspy due to the pressure against her neck. Looking up at the boy expectantly, Harper waits for him to remove the hand from her neck. And after only a few more moments he finally complies, removing his hand from the girl's neck harshly. Turning around to move back to the bar.

"When were you born?" The boy, whos name Harper really needed to learn, questioned skeptically while picking up a large knife from one of the deceased men.

"Sometime around 1000 AD, why is that relevant?" Harper asked him confused. She wasn't sure why her birthday was important information to have at the moment.

"1000 AD?" He chuckled humorously, glancing over at Harper briefly before looking down to his arm. Laying it flat on the bar before making a deep cut in the skin, digging into the new wound and pulling out a red and green blinking chip.

"You smell divine," Harper speaks again. Ignoring the question and speeding behind the boy, looking at the blood dripping down his arm as a child would look at a piece of candy. Her words electing a concerned raised eyebrow from the boy as he looked at her with curiosity.

Pulling the sleeve back down his arm with only a small grunt, he stood from the stool swiftly. Clutching the chip in his hand loosely while making his way towards the door, stepping over the man Harper killed on the way.

At that moment Harper could have just let him leave, go back to her hotel room and go on with her plans. Although, there was something interesting about the boy in the school uniform. So instead of leaving him alone, Harper sped after him. Not needing to move much given he hadn't gone very far away.

"So where are we going?" She questioned from beside him, causing the boy to jump slightly at her voice before letting out a dry chuckle.

"WE aren't going anywhere," He tells her dryly. Straightening his tie, before glancing over at her. Raising his eyebrow as she continues to walk beside him, not making a move to leave.

"So what's your name? It's only far I know yours since you know mine and all," Harper questioned him. Ignoring his previous words completely as she continues beside him.

"If I tell you my name will you leave me alone?" He questioned her sarcastically, hoping Harper would comply and leave so he could continue on with his plans of saving the world. It wasn't exactly a task he could complete with an annoying girl following him around and getting in the way.

"No, most likely not," Harper replies. A smug smile filling her face at the boy's eye roll.

"Five," he speaks after a few moments of silence.

It only took a few seconds for his words to process in the vampire before her giggles filled the air, the giggles sounding incredibly melodic to Five although he would never admit so.

"Your parents named you 'Five'? Like the number?" Harper questioned him after getting her giggles under control, a taunting smile still filling her face.

"Yes." Five told her unamused, shooting her an annoyed look before pausing in front of an apartment building. Looking it up and down a few moments before turning to face Harper once again. He opened his mouth ready to tell her to get lost, although he stopped himself. It would be helpful to have someone to help him, besides his family of course, and judging by what happened in the diner she could clearly handle herself.

"Follow me and be quiet."

----

Harper and Five were now sitting inside a dark apartment building. The young Mikaelson didn't exactly know why they were in the dark although when she tried to ask all she got was a glare and an eye roll.

Harper opened her mouth to ask again, although the sound of a key being inserted into the lock caused her to pause and turn to the door instead. Only a few seconds later the door was pushed open and a pretty brunette stepped blindly into the room. Her hand searches for the light switch on the wall. Although before she could find it Five turned on the lamp over his own seat, causing the young women to jump in surprise.

"Jesus," She exclaimed loudly. Looking at the two minors resting on her furniture, a hand resting on her chest to calm her fast-beating heart.

"You should have locks on your windows," Five speaks from the armchair earning a strange look from the women.

"I live on the second floor," She told him exasperatedly.

"Rapists can climb," Five adds after her words causing her to stare at him in silence.

"You are so weird," She finally muttered after getting over her shock. Shaking her head slightly and shutting the door behind her with a small creek. Moving over to sit on the end of her couch, the opposite end of which Harper was sitting on with her ankles crossed properly.

"Is that blood?" She suddenly questioned after staring at the two of them for a few moments. She had only just noticed that both of the teens had various amounts of blood on them.

Harper looked down at the dried blood on both her hand and her pants briefly before shrugging, noticing Five was doing the same thing while looking at his arm.

"It's nothing," He told her calmly. Looking over at Harper briefly before his eyes flicked back to the brunette.

"Why are you here?" She finally questioned. Looking between the two of them expectantly. Five took a deep sigh before answering.

"I've decided you're the only one I can trust," He told her. Harper moved her eyes over to him after his words, letting out a fake cough.

"I don't trust you," Five told her simply. Only looking at her briefly before moving his gaze back to the women. Harper only shrugged, it was a fair statement she supposed. They had only known each other for an hour at most.

"Why me?" The brunette questioned sounding surprised.

"Because you're ordinary," Five started. Earning a snort from Harper, which he ignored. A slightly hurt look fell on the women's face as she deflated slightly. Noticing this, Five spoke again. "Because you'll listen."

Gazing at him for only a moment, the woman mumbles a small 'okay' before standing up from her couch. Making her way out of the room and into what looked like a bathroom. She was only gone for a minute before returning with some alcohol and gauze. Five took this as a sign to roll up his sleeve, Harper moved to the opposite end of the couch so the woman could sit in front of him.

"When I jumped forward and got stuck in the future, do you know what I found?" Five spoke as the woman cleaned his arm.

"No." She spoke softly.

"Nothing. Absolutely nothing," He told her darkly. His eyes flickering between the two women in the room as he continued, "As far as I could tell, I was the last person left alive. I never figured out what killed the human race, but... I did find something else. The date it happens. The world ends in eight days, and I have no idea how to stop it."

As he finished, Harper sat up straighter. All while the women went silent, gazing at the boy in what resemble disbelief before speaking.

"I'll put on a pot of coffee."
